Hey Val, smile.gif

Remember, you just has surgery... your body is trying to heal itself. It will take a while, but you're going to feel better in no time. I speak from experience. Instead of the crying face... we will be waiting for that big smiley face!

Thank you sweet Annie! I have so much to smile about that is for certain! smile.gif

Thinking about this thread made me think of a song.... and it always brings a smile to my face!

"How could I ask for more" It is the most simplest of things that bring the most joy in our lives! I wish you were here... and I would sing it for you!

How could I ask for more!

There's nothing like the warmth of a summer afternoon
Waking to the sunlight, and being cradled by the moon
Catching fireflies at night
Building castles in the sand
Kissing Mama's face goodnight
Holding Daddy's hand
Thank you Lord, how could I ask for more

Running barefoot through the grass
A little hide and go seek
Being so in love, that you can hardly eat
Dancing in the dark, when there's no one else around
Being bundled 'neath the covers, watching snow
Fall to the ground
Thank you Lord, how could I ask for more

So many things I thought would bring me happiness
Some dreams that are realities today
Such an irony the things that mean the most to me
Are the memories that I've made along the way

So if there's anything I've learned
From this journey I am on
Simple truths will keep you going
Simple love will keep you strong
Cause there are questions without answers
Flames that never die
Heartaches we go through are often blessings in disguise
So thank you Lord, oh thank you Lord
How could I ask for more

hummingbirds, horses, dogs, scrub oak on the hills, monarch butterflies, wildflowers...
especially when someone picks them for you

the desert at daybreak, sunsets in October, secret little beaches, autumn
praying with those that love the Lord, praying with those that are hurting

people that struggle and are overcoming, people that help withot being asked,
Hebrew letters, artistic works and poems by the Holy Spirit, sharing hope
when I have nothing else to give

cooking for friends, vegetables, grilled corn, baggy jeans and big sweaters
morning showers , fresh cinnamin coffee, french toast, pistachios, chocolate

big rigs painted by the independant drivers, i love to see them on the road,
love to watch people, and drive my car, go on little road trips, picnics

the Bible and how it makes my life different and allows me to be who I am
while changing me all the time

it seems that i have many things that make me happy, mostly cherishing
a friend, and having forgiveness receiving and giving the blessing of love

thanks. i woke up today tearful and sad, sorrow for not
doing more, for being caught up in self and sick of it. just now i see all
the lovely gifts and i know that God is in this place and I, I didn't know.
look all the presents He gives me, but it is His presence that I long for...

I just find this thread so refreshing! Thank you C for starting it! Somethings that make me smile....a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream over Hot Apple Pie on a summer day. Sipping Hot Coco with friends by the Fire Place and talking about the Lord! A huge glass of ice cold lemonade on a hot day! Sipping Hot Coco with friends by Fire Place talking about the Lord! Watching the sunset on the beach, feeling the sand between my toes! Roasting marshmello's by the campfire with my family and friends! Sitting on the bank of a pond fishing and listening to the birds and crickets chirp!

Man are we blessed beyond words! The creator of the universe has painted us the most brilliant picture! And all to often we get so busy that we do not even notice the priceless master-piece right in front of our eyes!

Love you Valerie.

I had a crying moment today here at my computer in prayer over someone. I needed this thread too.

C....

This has to be one of the best threads I have ever seen. Thank you for starting it.

I have some things that make me happy that I'll add....

Yeshua and His forgiveness....my kids....the love of my family and friends....the blue sky and fluffy white clouds.....the rain pouring on me....the wind on my face....feeling the sand under my feet.....hearing my girls laugh....seeing the flowers I planted....watching the sunset....smelling the air in the Spring and seeing all the new things blossoming.....the smell of fresh cut grass.....sitting on my back deck at night and watching the stars....getting the time to take a nap....

Thank you God for giving us such a beautiful world to live in.

Oh, ya...I have another to add....

Yellow butterflys! I love them. Funny but I have a small story to shar with this one, might left up hearts.

About a month after leaving my foster care home. I was walking apass the house I called home. It was a group home, and i know the bed that was mine was already filled with another. I wouldnt have that home to go home to as others would have. I didnt have that safe place to run to if I needed it. I also know that those in that big program I was in didnt much care for me because of the type of walk I had with G-d. If all left me very empty and feeling alone at that moment. I had tears in my eyes that I didnt want to let go. As I was walking by, I got to the end of that block, when I was eyeing a yellow butterfly, feeling a smile cross my face as I did. I really never remember even see one befor this, as less noteing they being there. All at once a mile truck hit that little yellow butterfly, and it smack to the group on the side of the streat. I let out a little, "NO!" I could feel my tears coming now. I was feeling mighty silly as well. When I heard G-d say, "Pick it up!" I at that time just started hearing G-d take to me, and wasnt fast at responding, feeling a bit nuts. He had to tell me again, to pick it up, calling me by my name the last time. So I did, but not befor I looked around to see if anyone was watching me. Feeling very silly, like a child. He than said, "Say, in the name of Jesus, live. Wake up!" He again had to tell me over and over again, just a pit slow, hu! I did, three times, and was stroking it with my finger. I know it was dead. But the last time that little yellow butterful set up, walked right off the end of my finder and flow away. I know find that when I feel that same alone feeling, and struggles I get lots of these same little yellow butterflys around me. It is my reminder that G-d is there with me, ALWAYS!

Abba, I would like to share a yellow butterfly with my sister, Val... tomarrow please send her some! In Jesus name, amen!

Oh sweetie! I just sit here with tears streaming down my face! That is one of the most moving stories I have ever heard Laurel! And I am just smiling... that He gave it TO YOU! Thank you so much for sharing it with me! The Lord loves you so much girl..... and we sure love you too! It has been a very emotional day..... but please do not get me wrong, the Lord has been so near. It has been a day of the Lord pouring out His living water on me. Funny thing, I knew today that the Lord was showing me something when I got attacked so badly at the pool. He had me in Gen and looking at Jacob/Israel's life. It is all becoming a little more clearer now. Anyway.... just smiling and thanking the Lord, that even in the midst of pain and spiritual attacks I can still smile and be filled with JOY! Thank you girl for sharing your story! I just read how in Gen 33 Jacob buys a piece of land. There he erects an altar and called it "El-elohe-Israel" or the MIGHTY GOD OF ISRAEL! Boy from listening to your story it certainly testifies to that same Mighty God of Israel! smile.gif

Thank you for the beautiful yellow butterflies!

sharing songs, laughs, and tears...warm breezy days that feel like warm oil smoothing every fiber of our beings...sunsets and sunrises, cooking, cleaning, caring, rejoicing, flowers in every stage of growth, trees in the Spring time when just a hint of green makes them look as though they have a soft green fog upon them, getting up to the smell of pancakes and fresh aroma of coffee...walks with our dog in the park, fellowship with others and spending time in God's word...spending time with God and reading his word and praying for his guidance and longing for his presence is the most important thing for me...., being comforted in knowing he walks before us and will never leave us nor forsake us, and prepares a place for us, hugging my husband and knowing the love we have is real through all the trails of marriage the ups and down times, God still is in our midst helping us grow together in him, forgiving one another, loving friends and family, remembering times when all seemed so lost only to discover what was never ever noticed in gratitude of the hand of God at work in our lives...never regretting a minute to where I am now..... having communication with you all here and know that love is our banner even when we don't always agree, and most importantly that it is not important to be right, but to allow the grace of God work in our lives. Much Love and peace from Jesus to you all...Val, get some rest God is restoring you and holding you...we all love you very much...

I have thought the exact same thing. I wake up very early to hear the very first bird start to sing, and then they all join in. I have noticed that the calls and singing they do have a numeric pattern. One bird may sing exactly 3 times and pause, and another may sing 7 times and pause. Each one rarely ever deviates from their own pattern. smile.gif

Me too.

There is a park by the Art Museum that I enjoy walking the circular trail sometimes in the evenings. Its lighted and surrounded by houses so I never feel in danger. But its so peaceful and pretty. And in the summer, you can hear the birds chirping in the trees in the evening.

all the bills are paid.....lying on the beach.....surprises.....talking to my cats....losing a few pounds.....peace and quiet.....awaking early and being alone with the Lord in His Word....miracles.....babies smiling at me.....unexpected kind words.....prayers answered.....hugs.....nice hair day.....sunshine.....pleasant dreams.....good music......a good square pizza..... vanilla, pistachio or cookie dough ice cream in a waffle cone.....

I love all the bills paid...oh yeah! and pistachio's...and waffle cones....mmm mmm good!

Coming home, getting out of my scrubs then taking a long shower and putting on my comfy jeans and t-shirt, and then putting my feet up.

Its winter here and today I installed something that I have always wanted since being a child . I remember the times on my grandfather's farm, when grandma lit the coal stove. We sat in the warm kitchen and everything happened around that coal stove. Warm bread, stews, roasts, always coffee brewing. There was the smell of a wood fire. The warmth of family. smile.gif So today it arrived and tonight I had people over for "soup on the stove" I made some oxtail soup and it was so satisfying placing the soup on something so old and comforting.

I want to try and bake some bread in it this week smile.gif

It is white and black, but looks something like this one in this picture.

That looks just like my Grandmaman's stove in Pointe-au-Pic! Hers was black and white and called a "baby rural" if I remember correctly! smile.gif

Hi C smile.gif

Wow... if your stove is anything like the pic... it's an antique.

I have nice memories of the Remington wood stove we had installed at the house we sold. I'm glad we sold the house just in time... but I sure do miss the wood stove in the basement... warm fires on snowy nights, the aroma of cherry or white birch wood, and the anticipation of waiting for the pot of beans cooking on the top. biggrin.gif

C! C! C!

It is WONDERFUL!!!!!!

Can I give you a recipe? It is one that uses what we grow on the farm (mostly), but you can get the ingredients anywhere and it is not only good for you, it will not raise your sugar levels like "whole wheat" bread will do (they allow about 40% non whole flour these days.

In a mixing bowl: 2 eggs, 1/4 c olive oil, 1c milk (scalded then cooled to 100 degrees), 1c water (100 degrees) with 3Tbl yeast mixed in, 1/2c honey, 3 tea sal (I use Kosher coarse), 3c cracked wheat. Mix for a good 4 minutes (it IS bread...not cake).

I winnow the wheat every week for my house, because the wheat is grown in the back field, but you can get wheat berries by the five gallon bucket anywhere here. Then a NutriMill grinder makes enough flour in minutes for the whole week.

Let that just rest for about 1/2 hour in the mixing bowl. Then, mix again, adding more flour until it is a very soft ball (about 3-4 more cups). Mix for about 6-8 minuites). Knead gently on a floured table then place into a buttered bowl to rise twice its size (about 1/2 hour).

Take it out of the bowl and make two loaves, placing them into buttered loaf pans (or keep them in two big lumps like my husband does for his pizza/bread oven out back) and let rise double again (about 1/2 hour-45 minutes).

Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes.

C.....That is a great stove you have. Treasure it.
