God only made a promised to his people, the Jewish people that they would never fail to exist. He made this promised to his beloved friend Abraham. God will keep this promised, even though the Little horn will try to exterminate the Jewish nation.
God also made a promise to the Church that the gates of hell or rather Hades would not prevail against it, that is that it would not completely kill every Christian, endowed with the double portion spirit.

This does not mean that The Jewish nation will not have persecution during the tribulation, in fact only a small remnant will survival this second Holocaust to come to the nation. With the Church to be set up, The Christians [wherever they are] are NOT allowed to fight back when the little horn makes war with them during the tribulation. Unlike Zion which will have to fight for its existence.

For GOD to keep his promised to his friend Abraham before the tribulation he will have to provide a place of safety for a remnant ONLY. They will receive help and safety for three and half years. [Bare in mind there is one seven remaining and when half the seven begins the Tribulation starts] These will escape OUT from Jerusalem when they see Jerusalem Encircled again. During the Tribulation there will be some remnant inside the Temple. The Little horn will not be allowed to enter the Temple. He will though set up the image at the North Gate of the temple.
Who is allowed to go inside the temple? ONLY Levites and priest are allowed by law. But in the Court of Men, these will be Only those whom God allows. If someone tries to enter it without approval (s)he will be expire.

For Christians:
The apostles lost their lives, the prophets lost their lives and the most of the early Christians lost their lives. And now for this coming end of the age, Most Christian will lose their lives too. He is fighting for the people of Israel from being exterminated as a nation. This event takes place when all the nations are coming up against Jerusalem to completely destroy it at the last seven. Death is no more after the final devils are removed at the end of Christ's millennial reign.

When there is no one left in existence to receive death as the wages of their sin, then death is swallowed up in victory and done away with.
