Your post reminded me of a past memory. When I was in my 20's I was sick and needed to stay at home from work. I remember that this preacher came on the tv preaching such a positive and Godly message; or so I thought. At the end of his programming something that he did completely took me by surprise. He put his hand to the TV screen and exclaimed, "Touch my hand, believe and all your pain will instantly go away. In order for this healing to be complete you must write a $500.00 check to me." Jeff, I became indignant. How bogus. How many people did this evangelist financially bankrupt with a promise of a healing? God can and does heal but am unsure if he uses such outlandish techniques as this minister used.
Lol. Al, you're story reminded me of my own story about phony preachers, lol. Before I was called, I lived in a warehouse when I was about 22 and our band had practice there. One night after practice (or just me sitting around) I got hammered (per usual, ha), and, saw Benny Hinn on TV. This guy was sooooo fake, I was totally ticked off. I was raised in a Christian home and all that, so, I knew about God etc. This guy just raised my hackles, even not being saved yet. I called the hotline number, and, started laying into the operator who answered which was a young woman. I think I may have been cussing about Hinn. I said, "he's just trying to make money off this &%*&^%$!" LOL. The girl on the other end said, "well, he is spreading the message of Jesus and that you can be saved and a lot of people are getting saved" I was like, "oh, um, ok.. that's ok then. Thanks, bye." LOL. Man, that was the funniest! There was nothing else I could say. The girl had the best answer, lol. I still didn't like Benny Hinn though. Lol.

Thanks for your funny story!
