One thing I just love about the Lord. When we seek his face and his wisdom He answers.

I wanted to share:

We were at a prayer meeting for the congregation and very few showed up. One man having been contentious quite a bit of leadership goals and decisions started saying some rather hurtful things about wanting to cast lots to determine who should be the Elder and what our goals should be claiming the leadership just is not right.

Moved by the Lord and with the Approval of the Elder I grabbed a sock hat and three marbles and explained how I draw lots to determine the Lord's will on occasion.

The Elder sugguested we should be asking about our own needs to grow and change as appossed to others - so we all agreed and
white was for yes
black was for no
blue was for asking the wrong question.

The first to draw wanted a new Elder, but asked if he were living in rebellion. the answer came up yes. That quelled the rebellion and contention.

The second asked if she had a critical spirit and the answer was no - but she was so sure she had a problem she ask
Did she have a judgemental spirit. I asked if she was testing the Lord and she said no and drew again. The answer was again "no". That gave her much to ponder.

I asked If I was doing anything to cause contention in the church and got blue for wrong questio.
I asked if I was doing anything in my family that was causing problems in the church and it again came up blue.
The Elder laughed and said maybe I was not supposed to ask God a question at this time of God.
I asked am I supposed to ask a question at this time and the answer was no

The Elder declined

The Elders wife asked if there was something more she could be doing to promote the kingdom of God an stated the answer said be yes because she knows she has more to do and learn to be a better servant in God's church. She drew and it came up yes as she had predicted.


I can't tell you how much it was a blessing to have God answer when we called. We then went on to have a most excellent prayer meeting in one mind and spirit. Now some don't believe casting lots is prophetic. Granted I use it and I may have some gift associated with it and not know it to be a gift.

I was just blessed that God used what we knew of His scripture to settle a contention.

Some times we just have to stand in faith on the scriptures and believe God does what He says.
