I think this meeting has serious implications for not only Israel but for the United States as well.
I believe our leaders are playing with fire.
Dear friends of Bridges for Peace,
At a three day "peace" conference from Monday to Wednesday this week in Annapolis our elected leaders will be brainstorming for the most effective way to take another nation’s land away from them. The International Conference for the Creation of Palestine (on Israel’s Biblical heartland) is set to formally convene in Annapolis, Maryland, on November 27 - this coming Tuesday.
To quote Stan Goodenough: "And what a day to choose. On the Jewish calendar, November 27, 2007 is 16 Kislev, 5768. It was on 16 Kislev 5708 - exactly 60 years ago - that the United Nations voted to split the Land of Israel in two, and out of it carve a Jewish and an Arab state." (The reference is to the U.N. 1947 Partition Plan which reduced the national homeland for the Jewish people to 15% of the land tract that was originally promised them in the aftermath of WWI by the 1922 Balfour Declaration [Great Britain] and endorsed by the League of Nations.)
Tuesday the world hopes to give a massive push to further stripping the nearly 60-year old nation of Israel of her Biblical heartland, including East Jerusalem - reducing an already territorially compromised Israel to strategically indefensible borders. And the US will be leading the charge - a charge against the Biblically stated will and purpose of the same God who has so providentially established our own country and graciously blessed it, and whom we claim to honor and obey.
What shall we do?
First of all, please consider participating with us in taking a time for fasting and prayer this Monday or Tuesday, (Nov. 26 & 27, 2007) concerning this fateful conference, for which so much is at stake for Israel, our country, and the 46 participating invited nations. The courts of heaven will certainly take note of who is pushing for what, regardless of the outcome. The following are some recommendations for prayer:
1) Repentance and prayer for mercy for our own nation is in order. Judgment falls sooner or later to any nation that works to harm Israel (Joel 3:1,2), God's chosen nation for bringing redemption to the world.
2) Offer thanks to God for those in our nation and around the world who have committed themselves to bless God's chosen people and His chosen land, and who pray, stand up, speak up, and work to that end. May their numbers and their influence be enlarged.
3) Pray for Israel - God's Glory (Is. 46:13) - at this time of extraordinary external pressure and internal deception. Consider prayer along these lines:
"Heavenly Father - Thwart all efforts by the U.S., Israel, the Palestinians, and the nations of the world to wrest control of Jerusalem, and Judea and Samaria, from the Jewish people. Prevent the Israeli government from repeating the mistakes of Oslo and handing over more of the Biblical inheritance to any entity, much less to terrorists who seek the destruction of Israel. Bring to naught any "peace" conferences, negotiations, or agreements that will intentionally or unintentionally harm Your chosen people and the land You have entrusted into their stewardship.
"Give Israeli ministers and negotiators wisdom not to fall into traps, and courage not to cave in to terrorist threats, econimic and military blackmail, or diplomatic arm twisting. Give strength and favor to the voices of wisdom - in the Israeli leadership, the Israeli public, and the Annapolis conference negotioators and their entourages - who will stand firmly and elegantly against false peace in any of its manifestations. Raise up constructive solutions that will not compromise the Biblical calling and responsibility of the people of Israel.
"Bring the hope of the Gospel to the Palestinians. Release them individually and as a people from the influence and grip of the dark powers of Islam. Strengthen, anoint, and protect all who have received the Messiah. We pray these things in the name and authority of Jesus the Messiah. Amen."
