Ok so I'm cleaning my kitchen and I got to thinking: What are y'alls hobbies? What is it that y'all like to do, just to do?

I like crafty stuff. I like to take pictures and scrapbook. I love to fix up rooms in the house, I love bold colors and to paint my walls them. blink.gif
Gardening is fun for me, and doing projects outside.
I like to make girly stuff for my daughter, like hairbows and tutus, lol. Reading has always been a favorite pasttime and making lists. I love to write out lists, don't necessarily follow them all the time, but they're fun to write out. blush.gif
Oh and cooking! Can't forget cooking and baking! Although I don't think you can be from Louisiana and not like to cook!
What about you?

Ok back to my kitchen. cool.gif

UGH! Maybe that'll be my next venture. And give me some garlic and I'll whip ya'll up some kind of awsome Greek dish...loooove it when I have time to do some Greek cookin.....YUM!

my interests are reading and researching prophesy. Horseback riding, doing quill work, working on my house, being in the woods and sitting beside the lake and taking care of my animals. (2 horses, 2 miniature jersey cows, 3 dogs, 2 chickens, 1 rabbit, 7 cats and 2 goats)

Oh miniature cows! Do you have pictures? I had a cow (well we had a few, but this one was mine, hehe) in high school. She was extremely spoiled. Our cow pasture was in the back of our house and when I would come out the back door, she would come running full speed kicking up her heels and stop at the fence and moo and moo until I would give her some range cubes, lol.

My screen name isn't a complete giveaway. "Diverteach", yes I do enjoy my scuba diving to the point of enjoying to teach others to enjoy it as well. It's an opportunity to show them another dimension to the splendor of God's wetter creations. I also enjoy and teach wreck diving, deep diving, underwater videography, and spearfishing.

Living in Florida, it's my playground not limited to just diving but pretty much anything on the water. My favorite being sailing, especially overnighters in an anchorage with a view pulling in fresh fish right onto the grill. Oh ya!

Others would be jet skiing, snow skiing, fishing, playing my drums, and bike riding with my parrot. That's him in my avatar standing on my head while I'm trying to nap. LOL

I love to dry and or identify native plants. Learn the medicinal uses and folklore. I love to fill my house with every drying thing. I use to sell to shops in town. I drifted away from it. I'd love to artistically catalogue the natives or at least do an artisic wall presentation. Every time a season drifts by l complain to the Lord that l haven't walked in the fields again.... blush.gif

Army wife 02 I don't know how to put pictures on this forum. If someone tells me how to I could post some pics of my mini cows. Miki We have classes on gathering wild foods and are always looking for someone to come and teach us more. We are looking for someone to show us how to collect and save and make some medicines. We are in upper minnesota. If you are interested!! We also do gardening and greenhouses.

That is pretty nifty. Where does one learn to make leather armor? In movies with all the armor and such in it, I always wonder where do you learn to do that? That is very cool and unique!

Miki- You and my grandpa would get along. He knows so much about plants, his yard is beautiful. When I was little I could spout off the scientific names and common names of all the trees I came across walking through his yard. I'm sad that I don't remember the scientific names of them. I bet your house smells so good with all the plants drying in it!
Do you grow herbs to cook with? If you do I have some questions about some I have planted, I will PM you if so and if you don't mind!

Diverteach- My husband loves diving and wants to take me someday. I don't know about that, I'd have to get up the nerve, lol.

Oh what a cool thread you've started. I have enjoyed reading here and getting to know a little bit more about each of you. Hmmm..... well lets see, I enjoy singing...and playing the piano. I started taking piano lessons when I was 4 years old. I took until I was about 17 years old.

After Dani gave me one of her guitars, I have been trying to teach myself to play it. She also sparked a baking thing in me which my family is loving now. smile.gif I have always loved to cook but just never really ventured to the baking thing unless it came in a box or something you had to slice! blush.gif

But I have to say my favorite past time is reading and studying the Word of God. I find it so funny because before I came to Christ.... I don't think I had ever read a book entirely, at least for pleasure. Yet since coming to Him this is what I enjoy the most.... reading His Book!

Your Friend in Christ,
Val

Thanks Leslie but l think the natives know more about the native plants than l.. tongue.gif I'm hoping to learn more from them! I've let the medicinal side slide after years of not really knowing what to do with it rather than a hobby of personal interest. The naturals l dry are for artistic use only...
I use to call my stuff NW Naturals. Fun fun fun...
(Most counties have info. on local flora...Stay on the safe side and learn from the experts).

No l don't cook with herbs. I've done teas and made tinctures..but years ago.

Val l recently took a bread making class from a Jewish man...Neat experience. He taught us how to make bread without a recipe if you can believe that. So I can now make bread without a recipe! Not egg or sweet bread but any of the grain breads. I learned all about flour and what makes the bread nutritious. It was a 4 hour class. I loved it.

Amanda...I would have loved to walk through the woods with your Grandpa..I think some people think l ruin the walk because l'm always peering beneth the under growth asking questions...
