End-Time Calling
What do yall know of halloweens true start, its intended purpose, what it means to Satans and his followers.
And what are your thoughts on the millions of Christians who will dress up like demons(or whatever else) and celebrate it.
Roxygal
I don't know it's true start...although I see the evil in it. The way I look at Halloween is this...

My parents were my spiritual guides when I was young...they raised me biblically, instilling truths and values. I dressed up and went trick or treating..never as an evil being, but nevertheless I went.

We are in the end times..that I know. My children are so very young 7,5, and 2. But I raise them biblically..instilling the same truths and values. Even my two year old really knows the Lord. I'll dress them up and we'll gather candy and play and laugh. We don't have much more time to do these things with our children. Where ever I go, I know the Lord is with us..he knows my heart and motives. So I feel comfortable going.

As to how it started or why...doesn't matter to me. We're living in a demon infested world..no matter what day it is.

Love you brother..
Blessings,
Lisa

I REFUSE TO SAY THIS IS 'satan's DAY'! And shame on Christians who do so!

It is the eve of All Saints Day. In old English All Saints Day was called "All Hallow's Day." And the Eve of All Hallow's Day was "All Hallow's Evening." Over time this was shortened to "Hallows E'en," and eventually to our "Halloween."

It should be a time of joy and festivity. Don't spoil it for the kids, teach them about the great Christians and Martyrs of the past, and why we cherish and celebrate their memories. Dress them in costumes as Biblical characters and great Christians of the past, and let 'em go get CANDY!!!!

TAKE THE DAY BACK!

Ummm...I feel much the same as Lisa. I was not raised in a Christian home though. My parents never participated in halloween though. My children are raised in a Christian home and they use to participate when they were younger. I never got into it though. My husband took them. I am very much in agreement with Lisa about not having much time with our children, so have fun with them now. My children being older, they would have felt left out if we raised them not participating. They also go to a private Christian academy, and at the school they do stuff. IFf it is all in a healthy Christian manner, I see no harm.
End-Time Calling
But some things cannot be done in a healthy christian manner if they're contradictory to being a christian.
Holloween may have started as something, but now it is the holiday with the theme of fear. If you ask almost anyone what halloween is all about, they'd say being scared. It is promoted using fear. Haunted houses to scare its tourist open up all across the country for this holiday. I walked into a large Christian grocery store in The East texas area and there is Christian music playing over the loud speaker, and in the front there are holloween costumes. All either Satan or scary skulls. IT is a holiday of fear. And we all know that fear is a tool of Satan not Yahweh. We are told that we have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind. Meaning our minds are to be sound, not in fear or confusion. Sound.
I'm not suggesting not spending time with you children on this night or even going out. But what are we as christians doing falling in line with the pagans to scare ourselves.
1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears in not made perfect in love."
Celebrating fear just seems very contradictory to me.
Plus on the spiritual warfare side of this. You are told to take every thought and imagination captive. You are to control you mind because if you don't Satan will. That what he does. If we open ourselves up to fear we are opening ourselves up the an spiritual attack. Fear is a spirit. It is called the spirit of fear. This is a very real demon spirit that you are opening the door to by allowing yourself to fear. EVen if its for fun.
ETC
Roxygal
I whole heartedly agree with that ETC...We are not to fear. That is true. But I'm confused where you might think I would be scared to walk to a door and get candy. I know this might be nitpicky of me and I may be missing the point you're trying to make...but if I'm not scared...my kids aren't scared...they're not dressed up in evil costumes. They KNOW good from evil...why would one night be different than any other?
I would think staying home would be me being fearful of evil...

I don't look at it like we're celebrating fear...it's all about the yummy candy for us anyway. Think about ETC...do you fear demons? Of course you don't! Why is this night different than any other night that you would stay home? The spirit of fear is always on the prowl!

We have to be able to trust that the Lord will protect us, even on Halloween. I love you brother..I really do.
Love, Lisa

There's nothing inherently wrong with going to one's neighbor's houses and asking for some candy. While Samhein is a day celebrated by pagans, All Hallows Eve is not. I don't have children, so I can't say if I'll take them trick-or-treating or not when I eventually do, but I'll leave you all with this, and by this verse, decide if participating in Halloween truly glorifies God:

"Whatever, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31
End-Time Calling
Roxy I don't think you are nit picking. What I am saying is halloween is a holiday of fear. There is nothing wrong with going and getting candy from your neighbor. And you say it is no different than any other night. But what other night of the year do you dress your kids up and go door to door for candy. Usually only halloween which in my opinion is not just having a good time. It is celebrating halloween because you don't really do this any other time. And in celebrating it in the exact same way as pagans makes us no different than them. If we want to get together or celebrate something let is glorify Yeshua not fear. Let us celebrate light instead of darkness. Let us do something positive instead of paying money to be scared at haunted houses, or scary movies. These are not of God, but of Satan for the purpose of puting fear in the hearts of man, women, and especially children.
Fear, fear, fear.
This is not a christian holiday. There was never the word God or JEsus to be taken out of the holiday saying by liberials. It is just another pagan holiday that we celebrate. But if men and women knew how hightly Satan thinks of this night they might not be so quick to celebrate it. Many man and women and even children lose their lives on halloween all across the globe as sacrifices to Satan. More so than just any other night as its been called. It is a night evil comes out of the shadows and makes it the world lust for fear and revalry.
And no Mr. Kelly I would people do on this night of all nights is no glorification to God. But to Satan.
No I am not saying you are sinning by dressing you lil ones up and going out for Candy. BUt I am saying I do not in any way agree with celebrating Hallloween. Celebrate Jesus. MAke a point of not celebrating halloween, but JEsus. Because if Jesus returned as you were in line to a scary movie or haunted house or were celebrating fear you would be ashamed.

It is good to point out the bad parts of samhein. Nearly every aspect of modern Halloween (a shortening of the Christian holiday "All Hallows Evening", which is the night prior to All Saints Day) has its root in paganism. I'm glad people are letting others know the dangers, even though judging others for participating isn't the right thing to do. I think we should take it one step further and gather Christians together to pray for the lost pagans on this day, since we are mandated to love these enemies of Christ.
Roxygal
and again..I agree with everything you've said. I don't do the scary stuff...it does invite the nasty little demons. I don't like the scare part..I promise..only the candy.
Brian Kelley
Nothing wrong with some Whoppers, unless you're committed to a diet like I am. :-(
armywife02
I agree w/ Roxygal. If you ask my kids what Halloween is for, they will tell you its about getting some candy. That and dressing up.
We don't do the scary stuff. We don't dress up as scary things. My daughter will probably be one of the fluffiest princesses out there. We use this time to make fall sugar cookies to decorate, we made a gingerbread house, turkeys out of foam and clay pots...it's a way for the kids and I to spend more time together.

Bravo! We really do need to take this day back for Jesus. When Christ came and reclaimed the people for God, He also reclaimed the days we celebrate! Why let the non-believers use it for their own purposes. Let us find purposes that will give glory to God and fulfill His will, such as family time!
Roxygal
Amen to that Brian & Armywife..I do love the fall..the changes in the leaves...the cool evenings. We find purpose in all we do..the Lord has his methods of teaching me lessons in the most peculiar ways..my children being one! I think every day should be celebrated and claimed as a day for the Lord...He's our Father! He created us! He created October 31st too...yes, it has been known as an evil day..but it's not evil for us.

I'm sorry we disagree on this part ETC...I hope you're not sad.
Love to you brother..I don't want to fight with you ever.
Love, Lisa
BrotherJon
As I learned more about deception and the Christianization of pagan rituals I began to come out of all these holidays. I don't "do" Christmas, Easter Halloween, birthdays, July4th, New years......I don't judge ANYONE who does, mind you, but for me, I see it as Leaven. It's all worldly and if the world does it, I tend to shy away from it. This is not a LAW to me.....I just choose to walk away from things tainted by paganism and worldliness.
End-Time Calling
I am leaning that way too BrotherJohn. It is just I feel l am exactly to whom the apostles were talking about when they say be not of this world, if I am celebrating everything the pagans are. I am called for a holy purpose.
WHat a great tool to teach your children.
"Mommy why can't we be like all the other Kids and dress up and celebrate halloween, its just for fun"
Because we are not of this world. We do not celebrate what they do, but we celebrate the things of Yahweh. The maker of the universe has called us to live by his name, and we will do so with all we do.

James 4:4-5 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

4You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely?[a]

Footnotes:

James 4:5 Or that God jealously longs for the spirit that he made to live in us; or that the Spirit he caused to live in us longs jealously

And no Roxy we could not fight. I could not be mad at you. You are a true angel of the lord, a true Saint, a light in dark places. Bless you!
And no reason to argue because I am not Yahweh. I just have opinions, most that deserve no room on this board. Keep blesses my post's with your words.
