Jordan, wilderness of sin, egypt, caanan, the conquest of caanan, etc
which of these is life before salvation? the wilderness of sin?

crossing the Jordan = initial salvation?

the conquest of caanan = growing and maturing in the Lord, and spiritual warfare of the christian BEFORE going to be with the Lord?

David FINISHED conquering/killing/subjecting/enslaving all the wicked caananites = going to be with the Lord in death/Rapture?

Solomon's REIGN of peace/temple-building/prosperity/riches = the Millennial Reign?

JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ

or , perhaps, initial salvation is pictured TWICE..........passing thru the RED SEA, and crossing the Jordan

No, wait,

JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ

JACOB's name was changed to ISRAEL = initial salvation of a christian

ISRAEL/JACOB's life before going to LAND OF GOSHEN = BABY CHRISTIAN IS LEARNING TO CRAWL AND WALK----maturing in the LORD

ISRAEL was saved from the famine by JOSEPH (jesus), and Israel went into LAND OF GOSHEN = SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT for the growing christian

ISRAEL was oppressed by the wicked (SATAN, PHAROAH) = the christian life under persecution

ISRAEL was saved from satan/pharaoh by MOSES (jesus) and the EXODUS/RED SEA PASSAGE = church in the end-times.......or the christian dies in the Lord.

am i on the right track here?

Amen in one parable i totally agree but in another i would say that the conquering of the promised land and getting the enemies out of the land is also a work in Christ now while we are alive. we are called Gods land " husbandry" is land and there are enemies in our land be them unclean spirits, or curses or flesh nature that still would like to have some say and lead us and we are given the strength because we walk in Christ to take this land over and kick out these enemies and take back this land. and as we do this we have the reign of peace in us etc... we are being built up a spiritual temple amen. as i have been looking at the types and examples in the OT i have been seeing type over type over type over type just crazy layers that just put me in total awe and always are perfect. the more i see the types and shadows and layers of them the more faith i have in Gods total control and soverignty in all things always and the more the beliefs i have on all things are proven or proved false and the truth put in its place
Patmos
The first generation children that passed through the Red Sea did not enter into the land because of disbelief.

This is not to say that they were un believers. Many of them believed God...surely Moses disbelief did not prohibit him from the salvic nature of God's plan. Moses was later seen on the Mt of Transfiguration with Elijah.

Therefore we know, that the crossing into the Jordan was not the instrument of salvation.

The instrument of salvation is the same that it's always been. Believing God. Therefore, the first generation that wandered 40 years because of disbelief did not all wander in vain. The one's who repented of the disbelief were surely saved but were punished for limiting the capacity of God to fight for them. They did not enter into rest. Rest comes after a long fought battle. Some recieve it sooner than others...others recieve it upon death. Even the most righteous do not always enter into rest. The 12 including Paul did not enter into rest until they were taken home.

Paul outlines this by saying "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race....

Paul never had permanence of rest because of the size of his commission...He often fought with satan himself, because satan knew who God had put in charge. That is why many of the greatest saints do not enter into complete rest....satan always knows that their greatest work is yet to be done, probably at the end of their lives...He is a roaring lion...and although he is fully aware he can not hinder the soul of the saved, he can certainly hinder their message.

But I digress....Crossing the Red Sea, water baptism is the beginning point...but the water does not save, it cleanses and prepares the body for the spirit....it is for the remission of sins.

Later on, when full belief in ONE God and HIS Word comes, people are saved. This does not mean they will ever make it into rest in this lifetime. There will be moments of peace and moments of tribulation and trial...some determined by obedianance, as with crossing of the Jordan and taking the land, and others by unmerited long suffering, going in circles in the desert...

The long suffering is many times to quell the claims of satan...the same accusations that he made of Job, telling God that they only believe in Him because of the fortress and blessings that He's put upon them....the accusations of the enemy have to be put to rest so God allows testing beyond what is fair and reasonable, at times, so that when satan's people get a butt kicking via God's people, the enemy will not have any legal argument in the heavenly court.

I am a believer in OSAS. I know many don't agree but I don't propose it is real for every one that sits in a pew. OSAS means that you will always believe God..the call is irrevocable and duly strong. You didn't just follow a multitude of people or join an assembly of friends. You asked God to save you and you meant it. Surely you may stumble. Surely you will have doubts about promises. But you will never doubt the promise of salvation, because when you were truely saved, you believed God.

amplified bible
Genesis 8:4
On the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat [in Armenia].

this is the first mention of REST in the amplified bible.............this date is the exact DATE of year of the RESURRECTION OF CHRIST.

(= salvation from sin and death)

********

this is the first mention of REST in the NT

# Matthew 11:28
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

did Jesus promise us PHYSICAL REST?...........or SPIRITUAL REST?

the bible tells us that christians are zealous to do good works.........so Jesus did NOT promise us PHYSICAL rest. (in this life)

He promised us SPIRITUAL REST...........REST from sin, shame, guilt, pangs of conscience,........ dread of death, grave, hell, Fire,........loneliness, gloom, non-love, non-joy, non-patience, foolishness,
