And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth..."
You’ve mentioned another verse that speaks of the sun darkened, and the moon blood, and two other verses that speak of the sun and moon darkened. I do not think these are describing the same time, as they are described differently, and with different surrounding events.
Peter quotes Joel in Acts 2, saying “this is what Joel wrote about,” beginning with the pouring out of the Spirit, ending with the blood moon, as the people of Jerusalem asked, what is this, seeing a group of believers receiving from the LORD something never seen before. Joel writes this prophecy, saying, “before the day of the LORD.” Later, in chapter 3, Joel prophesies the sun and moon darkened, now at the time of the judging of the nations, following Jesus’ return.
So I understand the sun darkened and the moon turned to blood before the day of the LORD, i.e. before the wrath of God begins as the trumpets are sounded early in the 70th Week, and the sun and moon darkened when Jesus returns, to gather Israel, and judge the nations, as He is revealed in glory.
