I agree that the warnings are generally wrong, so why should we listen?

Take a hypothetical situation. A husband get's up early and listens to the weather report and it says that it's going to rain. Now where I live, the weather reports are notoriously wrong. Should he dismiss the report or should he tell his wife to pack an umbrella just in case? Better to have the umbrella and not need it than to get soaking wet because you didn't heed the warning.

I am prepared for any situation, physically, mentally and spiritually. At first, I focused on physical preparations but over time realized that couldn't prepare me for every situation (I could get separated from my supplies). So then I focused on mental preparations, how to live off the land, where the springs of "living water" are, how to make shelter from the storm but over time, I realized that that too could not prepare me for every situation. Now I focus on spiritual preparation, for that is the only thing that can prepare you for every situation.

If you give your life completely over to the leading of God, where is he going to take you?

So I listen to all the warnings, with the understanding that they are probably all wrong, but I still pack my umbrella, they only need to be right once.

Ahhh, Don. Papa God has reminded me a lot lately that... He is my Shepherd.

I always appreciate warnings and signs that make you sit up and listen. It is when people start to attach numbers, measurements, and dates that it starts to make the whole thing sound nuts. The real message gets lost.

I believe that G-d not to long ago gave me a prom. that when time gets bad here, he will take care of me, as well as others. We will see his hand in ways we couldn't even think of.

There is many things that we can do to learn to servive, that we should take the time to be wize to what is going on.

I feel that we are to lead by the Spirit of G-d not man, so go with what he is leading you to do. But wise and do what you can but in the end, trust G-d.

I certainly agree with most of what has been said in this thread.

I think that the main thing is not to get attached to physical things in this life and to spen our time laying up treasure in heaven.

I too spent a lot of time putting together physical provisions to protect in case of a disaster. This however can be deceptive. Perhaps the saving of my physical life depends on me fleeing into the wilderness, but I might be tempted not to leave my physical supplies and stay back in the town where I might get robbed and attacked.

I thought of putting my money into gold bullion coins. But I cannot eat gold and it might slow down my flight into the wilderness.

Then two scriptures came to me. "He who seeks to save his life will lose it" and also "Take no thought for the morrow what you shall eat and what you shall wear".

So I can do one of two things. I can either live it up today, go on lots of lavish holidays and spend everything ie. 1 Cor 15:32 "? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die".

Or else I can start now giving away things, money "casting my bread on many waters" Ecc 11:1 fasting, praying, giving alms, doing good deeds, taking on purity and righteousness, praying that I will be "worthy to escape" Luke 21:36

Personally I think that the latter will be a better preparation than spending our money on physical provisions or on the indulgence of our pleasures. I think I might have advised people to make physical preparations in the past and that is certainly a better course than indulging our pleasures. However the best course is to not cling onto this life but to make preparations for the next life.

This is not say that we live a life of extreme paucity and sell our homes and go and live on the streets, but it does mean to change our orientation from building up our physical situations and outward toward the building up of others.

Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

I think it is good for us to constantly remember that we live on a knifes edge, that this society and economy can crash and burn at the drop of a hat. Our bank balances will vanish in an instant. Our stock holdings and real estate investments will turn to dust. We will go to the fridge to get out a beer and the light will not come on and the fridge will be empty. Foreign powers will come in and take possession of our lands. Epidemics, wars, civil chaos, famine will be our daily fare.

And when these things happen it may not even be the time of the end. This might just be the beginning of birth pangs. Or it might even just be one more ugly chapter in the ugly history of the world. Other nations in the world in other periods of history have already been through these types of calamaties. We should not think that our prosperous nations are immune or beyond the judging hand of God.

So let us fix our gaze on the kingdom of heaven. A better kingdom where moth and rust doth not corrupt nor theives break through nor steal. Let us fix our gaze on our Almighty Father who when his son asks for bread does not give him a stone, but who promises to feed us as he fed his children in the wilderness with Manna, and who fed the widow woman with oil in a jar which never ran dry. Who sent ravens with morsels of food to feed the prophet. Who fed the thousands with bread and fish from a few baskets and who has done many great deeds for his people throughout history.

You know this may sound not revelant to this post, but it does to me. I was watching 60 minutes the other night...and they had a story about a boy named Jacob, who excaped into the desert after his village was burned to the ground and he suffered the loss of his younger brother and friends and family and their community.
The reporters where searching for this Jacob...because they had some of his school papers left behind....in a musium. They went into enemy territory to find him.
Doesn't this sound familar? How Jesus is to us....he would leave 100 sheep to find one lost sheep.
And I think it is no conincedence that this young man's name is Jacob.
What also caught my attention, was the people's clothing...So colorful. Here they are in a refugee camp, with supplies from the U.N. It is in the middle of the desert...yet the children have smiles on their faces, and their clothing doesn't look at all worn or not ONE SPOT OF DIRT on them...and SO COLORFUL...bold reds, oranges, greens, yellows, blues, purples...THese are the people's of Darfar.
God is with them....what an example of the love of our merciful Father...I think of the story in the Bible that tells of the Coat of many colors.

I agree with you excubitor, this is the best preparation that you could possibly do. God gave me a word this weekend, he showed me a dollar bill and said, "this has absolutely no value, none". That doesn't mean that I quit my job or stop buying groceries but I put no trust in the dollar. If I were to lose every penny I have tomorrow, I would rejoice for I have lost nothing. What really has value is your faith in God and the love you share, that is a treasure that cannot be destroyed by storms, burnt by fire, or stolen away.

Yes, you can trust our Lord and our God for all your needs, and we should thus trust him, in such complete faith that nothing can cause us to fear.

May I relate a personal story to drive this point home and encourage your hearts?

I don't like talking about things the LORD has shown me because i always think someone will say i am just trying to glorify myself; but in fact i only want my Brother and my Father to be glorified. And I don't want any - like Josh - to hear what I went through and perhaps lose heart because they didn't receive the same thing. Some do not understand that each member has purpose fitly given them by the wise Master builder Jesus Christ.

Josh, if you're reading take heart, don't look at me or any other to compare yourself, and keep pressing toward the mark, your time will come. We must endure with much, much patience and not be overcome. I am praying for you, seek God, keep seeking, do not stop, he will be found of you.

In 2001 i began to lose massive weight very quickly; i dropped from 228lbs to 155lbs in three months. I thought for sure i was a dead man with cancer or something; it was frightening. You can't - well perhaps some can - imagine what a body looks like when you're 6'3" and 155lbs; bones everywhere you touch. When i would run my hands over my skin it felt very strange, thin, very thin and I could feel all my bones underneath. Pinch your skin about an inch on your forearm and you can feel the fat in there - even if your a thin person - but the fat wasn't there, thin like paper.

Doctors were no help; they said stress. Actually I didn't go to them about the weight loss but for an extreme sickness and the weight loss just came up. Although they did find I had been exposed to west nile at some point but that wasn't the cause for the weight loss.

Well after a year or so of remaining around 150 - 165lbs i fell on my face and begged him for my life because I have a wife and three daughters whom i was very concerned about. I wasn't concerned for myself that i may be dying but for them; i asked to live for thier sakes.

At that very instant, with eyes closed and face toward the ground, i saw a form of a throne - actually two - one less discernable, and one more discernable on the right-hand of the other. And on the form of the throne on the right i saw the form of a man - no clear image, no features, just a form like looking through a dark glass - and he said unto me, "be it unto you as you wish".

At that instant without thinking about it i rose up, drew a bath, and got in. I was rubbing the skin on my thighs feeling it's thinness and wondering what was happening to me, crying. Then, as I was rubbing my thighs i literally felt the fat come back under my skin, i felt it thickining and the water in the bath felt like it was full of oil.

From that moment on i went back up to 195lbs... until a month ago when it started again; i am now at 150lbs and holding and I can gain no weight regardless of what I eat. But... this time I am not afraid, I trust him completely. I pray you do too.

The LORD has taught me and all who will hear these words and take them to heart who my life - and your life - is and it is not food or drink but the flesh and blood of Christ. Yes, we have meat to eat that few know of and the Lord Jesus is our Life, without him we can do and are nothing.

We must give him all the glory for it is His by the Father through the Holy Ghost.

I am not suggesting to anyone that they quit eating but that even if food should fail, even if water should fail, he will sustain you just as he did Elijah by the brook, Israel in the wilderness, Moses fourty days up on that mountain, and Jesus fourty days.

He is our life, our bread, our drink.

I think time is very short but my prayer is that it would not be so because there are so many people. I ask our Father, can't this time be delayed, is the world that evil, are there no more to understand? It will be a dark and gloomy day, a day not to look forward to for the suffering. I pray he will be patient yet a while.

I think in addition to showing me to trust Him there is a need for these things when one is drawn near unto the throne of glory; to have no regard for the things of this life, even food. For during this tremendous weight loss - and never before it - I was deeply learning and seeing things in scripture like I never had before; it was like opening an completely new book even though I have read it cover to cover, every word. The understanding is different now and I see scriptures which have been taught one way for ages are actually not saying what has been taught, it's all backwards what our teachers are saying.

But I will hold that back unto another day because every time I bring those things out they become a reproach to me and the very brothers and sisters I seek to tell, well, it's automatically dismissed every time with firey indignation. And i myself sit and say as did Jeremiah;

O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me. For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily. Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But [his word] was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not [stay].

And this is as am i because these things i have learned and heard are as a burning fire shut-up in my bones and if i do not cry out soon it should consume me. But, now, i cannot speak of them for i am weary of being reproached by those whom i consider to be my brothers; one saying, "you know not the scriptures", or "you are in grave error", or "God is going to destroy you for saying that", and many the like things.

Yes, I have much to say but i cannot now.

I had a dream before all this began in 2001.

It was raining harder than i had ever seen it rain before, a hard, hard rain. I was out standing in the street and over in the opposite gutter i saw a book so i walked over to it and picked it up. It was dripping wet, water was cascading off it and I could see it was the bible. I opened it up and inside was another little book hidden within.

The rain will come and set the crooked things straight.

From that dream on all these things i have written above have happened to me.

Oh my Gosh...What an awesome testimony! It's not bragging or drawing attention to yourself to proclaim what God has done for you. Shout it from the roof tops and don't worry about the nay sayers. They did the same thing to Jesus. We need to be careful how much we tell and in the way we do it however because people can't recieve it. Believing...It's powerful...If people hear and believe they have to repent and their lives are so overwhelming the can't deal with it so it's easier to brush off what you say than deal with their own sin. But l tell you! They take it to their pillow at night....

I loved your testimony and yes l did read between the lines. Don't be afraid to declare the Glory of God and his works. He wants to use you. Say yes and all that goes with the cost of discipleship will be yours...

God will pour out is wrath on an unrepentant world and that time draws nearer and nearer.
It is my belief thru spirit led digestion of Holy scripture that the repentant believer is not subject to
the wrath of God Almighty. God has three elect groups of beings. First the Angels, secondly the
Jewish race and thirdly the church or body of believers.
God has set aside working with the Jewish people (because they rejected their Saviour) as foretold
by the Prophets of old.
God has taken his word to the Gentile nations and believers (His church) must be taken out of the way
before the 70th week of Daniel, known as Jacobs trouble and tribulation.
Jesus Himself will appear in the clouds with his Angels and call forth the dead in Christ and those
that are alive in Christ. This taking away deals only with believers who have put their faith in
Christ and repented of their sins both the living and the dead.
Soon after the removal of believers the time of Jacobs trouble begins and God's focus returns
to the nation of Israel and the Jewish childern of promise.

Pray always that you are found worthy to escape the wrath of God.

If you read the book of Revelation the scroll that Jesus opens the first seal reveals a
rider on a white horse with a bow and no arrows. This indicates a false pease. The 24 elders of
the church sit round about the throne of God. The church is clearly in heaven when the scroll
is opened and the first horse of the tribulation rides.
Praise be to our Redeemer the Lord Jesus for removing us from the earth for the time of God's
wrath to be poured out on an unrepentent world.
