Evidence of The Great Flood?
by Michael G. Mickey
(7-20-07)

According to the Scotsman, new research has reshaped "the geological history of Britain." What does this research indicate? A "flood of Biblical proportions swept away the hills which once joined England to France and created the British Isles."

Before anyone gets too excited, the article indicates that this flood of Biblical proportions wasn't the Great Flood but something more scientifically explainable:

The water, which came from what is now the North Sea, but was then a lake that sat hundreds of feet above the Strait of Dover, punched through the soft chalk hills uniting England and France and flowed into the Atlantic.
While I wouldn't be dogmatic in stating that science has put its spin on evidence supportive of the Great Flood, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. After all, you and I are nothing but a product of evolution according to science - little more than a cosmic fluke. And that's not merely applicable to us but to every form of life on planet Earth.

The article quotes Dr Sanjeev Gupta of Imperial College London as stating, in relation to what is termed "a huge valley more than seven miles wide and up to 170ft deep carved into chalk bedrock on the floor of the English Channel":
"In places, this huge underwater valley is more than seven miles wide and 170ft deep, with vertical sides.

"Its nearest geological parallels are found not on Earth, but in the monumental flood terrains of the planet Mars.
Lately, as I have documented as often as possible, we are seeing absolutely dramatic evidence in the news of our world supportive of what Bible prophecy states is yet to occur, as well as information supportive of what the Bible tells us has taken place in the past, one example of that being a recent "world-class find" that brings a "new kind of power" to the Old Testament. Another example, as reported by the Jerusalem Post, would be the discovery of a wall from the First Temple that was recently uncovered in Jerusalem's City of David, strengthening the claim that it is the site of the palace of King David.

Science is reporting that a flood of Biblical proportions created today's British Isles and that Neanderthal man, from the proper vantage point, could have watched a massive torrent of water flowing by.

The Bible tells us that a Great Flood took place that covered the entire planet with water - a flood which could've very well created today's British Isles, as well as the massive evidence of liquid destruction scientists involved in this latest study have discovered.

Has the team of scientists, whose research is documented in the Scotsman, found evidence of a localized flood of Biblical proportions as documented in the article or have they instead discovered a piece of a larger body of evidence supportive of a Great Flood that was anything but localized? I don't know the answer to that question for a fact, but I have my suspicions, especially when I hear them describing evidence of a flood "of Biblical proportions."

Keep looking up!

Benny, I believe you are absolutely correct in the latter analogy to your posed question. As usual, the Scientific Orthodoxy cannot see the forest from the trees. They frequently speak of "local phenomenon", as in another theory that postulates the collapse of a land bridge between the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea (today the Dardenelles ) had ultimately given birth to the "Flood Myth", a "localized" phenomenon. All one need do is open their eyes and they can see worldwide evidence for the Noachian Deluge.

The "Lebor Gabála Érenn", or "Book of Invasions of Ireland" recounts ancient legends of floods in the British Isles. The "Book of Invasions" was written in c. 450 AD by the Christian followers of St. Patrick.

There are also memories of ancient floods in northern Europe recorded in heathen Germanic Mythology. In fact, the breaking through of the "Ginungagap" (literally, "yawning - gap" or "wide mouth") sounds allot like this article.
