Full Version: Ugghh, My Back

I have a bad back and it's bothering me again. I'm so tired of this. We're gonna buy a new bed soon so hopefully that helps. I'm sick of taking pain pills. The oxycodone takes the pain away fairly good but then there's all the side effects of that. The main one being that I'm trying to quit smoking. Before my back flared up again I was down to about 5-6 cigarettes a day but the medicine makes me smoke like a chimney.

The only insurance I have right now is through the VA, it's great to have it but the Dr says that physical therapy 2-3 times a week would benefit me greatly. The problem is that the clinic I go to in Mt Vernon Mo doesn't have it and the closest VA facility that does is the VA hospital in Fayetteville Arkansas which is a good 2 1/2 hours away. Surgically the Dr says that there's nothing they can do. I have 3 bad discs in my lower back.

I hate it that there's sometimes I can't play with my son like I want to. And when I'm hurting bad I am crabby and even though I try not too, sometimes I take it out on my wife and son.

We should be getting better insurance on me soon, we've got that new bed coming and I'm also considering getting an inversion table. http://www.inversion-therapy.com/catalog/b...nversion_table/

Between these hopefully my back will get to feeling better but it sure is frustrating right now. I'm only 35 years old and being like this drives me nuts.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Ducktape, try the Memphis VA...I don't know if they can help you, but it is fairly close to where we are at...maybe we can help you out someway, if needed.

I've heard some good stuff about inversion therapy.

DTH....I feel your pain..I have had one surgery and they want to do another...I don't want a second surgery as they want to do a 2 level fusion on my L4/5 S1...I am physical therapy trying to get the re-herniated disc to go back into place...

I have an inversion chair, it helps a lot....I can only do 7 minutes, but any amount of time is good...It opens your spine to allow water to regenerate your disc....My S1 disc is about gone, but as long as there is disc material left to regenerate, it can....The chair cost about 200.00 and it's well worth it...The chair is easier on the ankles and knees....as the table pulls on them and causing them to hurt...

I hate taking pain meds as well and try to take them only at night....This weather really has me flarred up as well and today has not been a very good day...

Since you put this in the what do you say category. I say we lift it all up to the Lord and pray the prayer of faith and get it all taken care of. Praying

Yes I agree! I am certainly in agreement! I have seen my husband go through 2 back surgeries and still suffered with severe pain! It was prayer that healed him! He had the men from our church, that had went to a Promise Keepers conference lay hands on him. He has never suffered with the pain again! So I am certianly a fan of prayer! DT I remember seeing my husband suffer from depression as well, I know you have talked about this before! So please know that I am lifting you up in prayer as well.

Yes, I'll be praying for, (since I'm pretty much bed ridden with my back pain right now too). I've having really bad back pain for the last month or two. Most the the I've had to be completely bed ridden. The only way I really can deal with the pain in to be completely still in bed. I'm not getting hardly anything done. I went to doctors today to try some new meds. I'm trying to be careful but there things that I've got to do sometimes. The pain is in the bottom of my back all the way to neck and shoulders. I'm layered in heading wraps and heating pads. The meds they gave me today is some kind of steroid-methlprednisolone, and the other one is propoxphene-n the other med that they gave me 7 days ago didn't help very much. they just made me feel very tired and looppy. So I'm hoping this will work better

These back problelms comes and goes, normaly I don't need to go to the doctors, but then there are those rare times that nothing works.

God Bless you, and May HE Hear all the prayer

try the Memphis VA

I've heard good things about the Memphis VA but it's about 8 hours from me. Fayetteville isn't too bad but it's just far away.

I'm doing pretty good. It's more frustration than it is depression.

Sleep Number bed

I actually looked at these. They were OK but I want to keep looking. But I definitely will be getting me a better bed.
