They hung each to a side of the Lord at the day of the crucifixtion.
Luk 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. Luk 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? Luk 23:41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. Luk 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
There is an thing to be drawn from this. One thief spoke of the past and one of the future. The first said "If thou be" and the second said "Remember me." The first reminds us of a sinful past and the second of a worried future. When you are crucified with Christ you no longer live but Christ lives in you. (Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.)
There is no room for the grief of your past performance nor the worry for your future life. Worry is a bedfellow of unbelief. To worry is to show imperfected love for fear hath torment and there is no torment in love.
1Jo 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1Jo 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us. Christ is "perfect love" and IN HIM there can be no fear. To think upon your sins is to look away from Christ for there is no sin in Him. 2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2Ti 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
My purpose will be fulfilled in you! I have not left you alone. My comforter, the Spirit of truth, dwells in you. Testing is an evident token of My working in you. There is no remorse, regret or unforgiveness in My word. Only be of a broken heart and a contrite spirit, for I draw nigh to such a one. My forgiveness is freely offered.
Your life is not wasted or lost. Persons who hunger and thirst after righteousness may occasion to stumble, but though he fall he will not utterly be cast down. Wear the armour and wield the sword of the Spirit. Plead My blood which was shed for you. The word, the blood and My name are a three fold cord which cannot be broken. These bind the enemy of righteousness to make him quit of his accusations. There is a false accusation and there is a real guilt of sin, but I forgive those who diligently seek Me.
Do not fall into self pity or guilt, but press toward the mark. Run the race which is set before you and lay aside every weight and sin that doth so easily beset you. Remember the woman taken in adultery. She was guilty, but so were her accusers. As I said to her, I say to all: "Neither do I condemn thee: Go thy way and sin no more". You are an heir of God and I call you a pleasant child, for you have a heart to do My will. I do not speak desolations into your life, but I do speak My joy and peace. I love you and I care for you as a mother hen cares for her chicks. Now go out and live for Me, My child. Be of good comfort for I have you engraved in the palm of My hand!
