From the March 28, 2007 Columbia, SC Freetimes...

A group of "extremist" rabbis (the Sanhedrin, about 70 in number) announced in February that they want to resume the centuries-ago practice of including sacrifices in services and that resumption should start, for historical reasons, in the Jerusalem compound of Temple Mount (but know primarily now as Islam's Al Aqsa Mosque). According to the rabbis, sacrifice (especially of sheep) was a centerpiece of services in the Old City, but they acknowledge that it is unrealistic to expect current Muslim officials to tolerate the practice.

Commentary:

One of the biggest deceptions in the end times will be the insistance that the Jewish Temple has to be rebuilt before Jesus returns. Many Christians will say in that day, "This can't be Daniel's 7th week because the Temple hasn't been rebuilt." But Jewish Rabbis may one day carry out their animal sacrifices secretly from the world (including animal rights activists) in the original location of the excavated Holy of Holies- directly beneath centuries of rubble right under the Arab occupied Dome of the Rock.

Hal Lindsey reported in one of his books that he took a tour of the excavated tunnels on the Temple Mount and saw a sign pointing to the location of the Holy of Holies. The passage had been sealed off to tourists, but excavations were continuing beyond the view of the public. In the 90's protests broke out when a new tunnel was opened under the Temple Mount, which almost provoked the Palestinians to rebellion because it was near their holy site.

I've heard some people say that the Muslim Dome of the Rock will be destroyed before a Jewish Temple can be rebuilt. Let me make this plain- every Muslim in the world will rise up as one if this were to ever happen (protests over cartoons will seem tame in comparison). The only way the Jewish system of sacrifices can be reinstated is if the original chamber of the Holy of Holies, which now lies under the Dome of the Rock, is used. The Antichrist will one day take over this Sanctuary Fortress for his base in the Mid-Week Mid East war. It will be the safest place on earth- directly underneath the Dome of the Rock- Holy ground to both Jew and Arab. We will never see a new Jewish Temple rebuilt to fulfill the prophecies of Daniel's 70th Week, but like the article says, there will be sacrifices performed that the Antichrist will stop when he sets up his "Abomination that causes Desolation".

Ezekiel 8:1-12
1 And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.

2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.

3 And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.

4 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.

5 Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

6 He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.

7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.

8 Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.

9 And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

10 So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.

11 And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.

12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth.

Dear Orates, Evidence strongly suggests that your info. on the third temple is incorrect.....read the following..............Archaeological remains point to exact site of Second Temple, says HU professor February 07 2007

Drawing shows Prof. Patrich’s description of the location of the Temple compound (the rectangle defined by a solid line in the center of the drawing). The cistern upon which he basis his research is shown by a dotted line within the rectangle. The Dome of the Rock (octagonal structure) is seen in the lower left hand corner of the Temple compound. Note that given this alignment, the rock in the center of the Dome of the Rock is seen as outside the area of the Temple Compound (Drawing by Leen Ritmeyer)

While scholars have put forth various assessments for the location of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, a Hebrew University of Jerusalem professor says that archaeological remains that have so far been ignored by scholars point to the exact location, which is in a spot that differs from prevailing opinion.

The location identified by Prof. Joseph Patrich of the Hebrew University Institute of Archaeology places the Temple and its corresponding courtyards, chambers and gates in a more southeasterly and diagonal frame of reference than have earlier scholars.

In spotting the Temple in this way, Patrich concludes that the rock, over which the Dome of the Rock mosque was built in the 7th century C.E. is outside the confines of the Temple. The rock is considered by Moslems to be the spot from which Muhammad ascended to heaven and for Jews the place at which the binding of Isaac took place.

Prof. Joseph Patrich

Patrich basis his proposal on a study of a large underground cistern on the Temple Mount that was mapped by British engineer Sir Charles Wilson in 1866 on behalf of the Palestine Exploration Fund.

The giant cistern, 4.5 meters wide and 54 meters long, lay near the southeastern corner of the upper platform of the Temple Mount. It had a southeasterly orientation with branches extending north and south.

Examining the location and configuration of the cistern together with descriptions of the daily rite in the Temple and its surroundings found in the Mishna (the Rabbinic Oral Tradition compiled in the 3rd century C.E.), Patrich has demonstrated that this cistern is the only one found on the Temple Mount that can tie in with the Mishna text describing elements involved in the daily purification and sacrificial duties carried out by the priests on the altar in the Temple courtyard.

On this basis, he says, one can “reconstruct” the placement of the laver (a large basin) that was used by the priests for their ritual washing, with the water being drawn by a waterwheel mechanism from the cistern. After this purification, the priests ascended the nearby ramp to the sacrificial altar. By thus locating the laver, the water wheel, the ramp and the altar, one can then finally map, again in coordination with the Mishna, the alignment of the Temple itself and its gates and chambers.

All of these considerations have led Patrich to come up with a diagram of the Temple and its surroundings that place the Temple further to the east and south than earlier thought and at a southeasterly angle relative to the eastern wall of the Temple Mount, and not perpendicular to it, as earlier assumed. It is this placement which also leaves the rock in the Dome of the Rock outside of the Temple confines (see attached drawings and caption).

Prof. Patrich stressed that his research concerning the location of the Temple is strictly academic in nature, and that political connotations should not be attributed to it.

...............Orates, when you state="every Muslim in the world will rise up as one if this were to ever happen"....That is very correct....It is going to take up to three global shocks to get the arabs to agree to a third temple......The Isaiah 17;1 war..........The rapture,...and then the Ezekial 38 war................The Sanhedrin are already wanting to build the third temple......Orates, I have so much information pointing that this third temple is coming soon, that I do not know where to start...................But if you want that info. I do not mind sharing it with you......................................benny cool.gif

I would like to see any info on this subject. The exact location of the chamber of the Holy of Holies may not be directly under the Dome of the Rock as you stated, but I do believe it is covered by centuries of ruble somewhere in the area. I still don't think the Muslims would ever give up any ground for a rebuilt Jewish temple above ground no matter what happens in the future. If I am wrong, then we have a wait on our hands before the final 7 years can be fulfilled.

Dear Orates, the following is from the Isaiah 17;1 news update, of a possible scenerio that I posted.....Dear Duncdrewnoah,...(Smiling)..we are both on the same page.....This is what I have been pointing out all along. The scenerio that I come up with is;......Isaiah 17;1 happens first....The one and only reason that I strongly suspect that Isaiah 17;1 happens prior to the rapture, is because of the scripture of Isaiah 17;7 "IN that day a man will look to his Maker"...This seems to indicate that a lot of people will come to the Lord Jesus, when this prophecy comes to pass. But I am not certain that is what it means. I believe that the prophecy of Isaiah 17;1 will become the first major shock upon the world....but yet not enough to convince the arabs to agree willingly to a jewish third temple on the temple mount. When Isaiah 17;1 comes to pass.....I am thinking that a man out of the E.U. will activate "Recomendation 666" which will give him dictorial powers over the E.U. .....Then sometimes shortly thereafter, I believe that the Lord will call His Bride home, an event that "WE" call the rapture.....This will become the second global shock....This second shock may or maynot yet be enough to convince the arabs to agree to a third jewish temple. But because of the rapture, a lot of people are going to become religious overnite, which would make them prime candidates to become deceived by the false prophet...It is possible, but not for certain that this so-called coming false prophet could be the muslem messiah called the mahdi, who may be the false prophet...If this is true, then we have a scenerio of where muslims are brought together in (IF you will)....in harmony with the jews, considering that the Jews are looking for their false messiah who may be a jew......Which if this is case,....the islamic nations most likely would agree to anything that the anti-christ may suggest, including to have the arab nations to agree to a jewish third temple.......But after the rapture comes to pass, there will be a lot of chaos on a global scale, and I believe that it is going to take some time for the world to get its ducks in order....At this moment, a majority of the jews in Israel long to become aligned with the E.U. ......I believe that this will eventually happen, which the E.U. would guarantee peace and security, and the promise to come to Israel's aid, in the event that Israel were attacked. ......I believe that this strong guarantee, would be enough to convince Israel to unwall their villiages, and would believe that she is living in safety,..thus setting up the scenerio to where Ezekial 38 would come to pass. In its aftermath, there would be nothing to stand in Israel's way from building the third temple...............So it does seem that there will be a false peace before Daniels 70th week begins.....It is possible that the rapture could come to pass sometimes between 3 1/2 to 4 years before the last week of Daniel begins.....As I said before,...Once the rapture comes to pass, it's going to take some time to get thier ducks in order, because of all the chaos..........................benny cool.gif

Just read this Article on the web and it has some connection prophectically to the subject of a rebuilt temple.

Archeologist: Ancient cistern proves location of Second Temple
By ETGAR LEFKOVITS

An Israeli archeologist said Wednesday that he has pinpointed the exact location of the Second Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount.

The site identified by Hebrew University archeologist Prof. Joseph Patrich, based on the study of a large underground cistern on the Temple Mount and passages from the Mishna, places the Temple and its corresponding courtyards, chambers and gates in a more southeasterly and diagonal frame of reference compared to previous studies.

Patrich based his research, which is about to be published, on a study of a large underground cistern on the Temple Mount that was mapped by British engineer Sir Charles Wilson in 1866 on behalf of the Palestine Exploration Fund, along with passages from the Mishna.

The giant cistern, 4.5 meters wide and 54 meters long, lay near the southeastern corner of the upper platform of the Temple Mount. Examining the location and configuration of the cistern together with descriptions of the daily rite in the Temple and its surroundings found in the Mishna, Patrich said that this cistern is the only one found on the Temple Mount that can tie in with the ancient rabbinic text describing elements involved in the daily purification and sacrificial duties carried out by the priests on the altar in the Temple courtyard.

On this basis, he says, one can reconstruct the placement of a large basin that was used by the priests for their ritual washing, with the water being drawn by a waterwheel mechanism from the cistern.

After this purification, the priests ascended the nearby ramp to the sacrificial altar.

By thus locating the laver, the water wheel, the ramp and the altar, one can then finally map, again in coordination with the Mishna, the alignment of the Temple itself and its gates and chambers, he said.

These considerations led Patrich to place the Second Temple further to the east and south than earlier thought, and at a southeasterly angle relative to the eastern wall of the Temple Mount, and not perpendicular to it, as earlier assumed.

Patrich said that his research indicates that the rock over which the Dome of the Rock was built in the 7th century CE is actually outside the confines of the Temple.

The rock is believed to be the place at which the binding of Isaac took place, while Muslims consider it to be the spot from which Muhammad ascended to heaven.

The Temple Mount is Judaism's holiest site as the ancient compound where the two Jewish Temples stood, and is Islam's third holiest site after Mecca and Medina.

How is the modern day American Church any different than this vision of Ezekiel? The walls are full of their imagery all around, they fly the flags of the beast up at the alters in their sanctuary's and do you know what they do behind closed doors? They must think that the Lord doesn't see.
