Sweetie...
My best advice is that you get that word for yourself. In when I say get that word-
Pray. Pray that the Lord would speak. Pray that God would give you a hunger for His Word. He will honor that prayer.
Read the Bible. If you have a hard time just sitting down with a notebook and a King James (like I do)... make an investment and buy the Bible on CD- narriated. I have a set called the "Bible Experience". It is wonderful. It has sounds in the background, a beautiful score, and professional actors reading so as to involve all of your senses. God will speak to you as you listen along. It is a little pricey- but once you have it- YOU HAVE IT forever. You can listen in your car as you drive to school or work. You can listen as you go to sleep. (And don't let people tell you that this isn't as good as reading... people learn differently. The first century church obviously didn't even HAVE the written Gospels and letters compiled like we do- instead everything for the most part was taught orally. And look at Acts- they did just fine.)
Worship. Again- make an investment into some really wonderful music. (Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.)
At different seasons of our life- the Lord will speak to you more during prayer. In another seasons more in His Word or in worship.
You gotta do the work. And honey- I'm preaching to myself!!! What you put into your relationship with the Lord is what you will get out of it.
OK... to give you an illustration. Let's say you are really interested in a girl. She is a KNOCKOUT! Beautiful- a total catch. But more than that- she is a virtuous and righteous lady. People can trust her with secrets, she knows the Lord Jesus, and her light shines for all to see. She knows that she is precious- that she has a price far above rubies. If you wanted to date her and win her heart, do you think that this girl would settle for just a little bit of your time- just a quick phone call every once in awhile... only a half hearted effort to get to know her? Do you think that she would reward your lack of effort with wonderful home cooked meals, lavish attention, respect and adoration? NO- she respects herself too much for that! She is PRICELESS and deserves to be treated that way!!!
Now- think of the Lord Jesus! He is priceless, virtuous, all together righteous, and holy. Do you think that He will share His wisdom and pour more and more of Himself into to just anybody? NO! He respects Himself too much for that!!! He wants us to pursue him just as we would pursue a meaningful friendship on earth. Good relationships need to be cultivated, worked on, prayed over. He wants to be the number one priority in your heart (Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness)... and THEN you will reap the rewards of your love and obedience to Him (and all these things will be added unto you). You will start to hear Him for yourself and see God in everything by putting Him first in your heart and in your life!!!

I love your name. YOU are a seeker my dear Alex!!!

Praise the Lord God!
