Full Version: Need Prayers For My Son

I got a call from my oldest son's school today saying that he's ok, he's not suspended or expelled, but he's in trouble for a note that he and a girl were passing between them. She asked him if he'd had any good dreams lately, and he said something about dreaming about blowing up the school. Ask me how a 14 year thinks a girl will think that's funny--I don't know. Apparently he thought she would. The teacher got the note and sent it to the office, and a few minutes later he was called to the office.

The school resource officer (police) has to file a report and take it to a judge, who will decide if charges will be filed for a juvenile terrorist threat against the school. The officer is not going to the judge until Thursday (I'm unsure why), and apparently we will know that day if there is a problem.

I am stunned. Yes, it was an exceedingly stupid thing to say (like "bomb" in an airport), but it's not a terrorist threat against the school to say in a note to a girl that you dreamed about blowing the school up. I keep picturing police coming in and searching his room and this computer (they won't find anything--there isn't anything to find!!!!!!), and then I'm picturing DHR coming in to evaluate whether I can keep any of my children, considering that I've been such a total failure of a mother with this one.

Obviously Satan is really using this to discourage me. I'm praying really hard, but I could use some other people's prayers, too, and my son could, especially. Thanks so much!

Considering all that happens in the world, it is now 'normal' for the police to consider all the information they get as valid until proven otherwise. Kind of like guilty until proven innocent.

Consider him prayed for, by this one.

Yes, I understand their caution--you never know who is going to follow through on some passing comment. I know my son, though, and I'm just praying that he won't be sent away from our family for something that he had no intention of doing.

Thanks so much for your prayers. It helps to calm me down, knowing I'm not alone! Well, I'm not alone anyway, with my family and the Lord, but I think you guys know what I mean! wub.gif

Thanks, Val! Love you much, and I appreciate having you there and knowing you're praying for us. I know you have a clearer perspective than I do right at this moment of how we are all in God's hands. It just seems sometimes that Satan wants to snatch us away, or snatch our babies away. This "baby" is 14, and he's still my baby--always will be.

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I will be praying for you. Don't let satan infultrate your thoughts. You will not lose your son. Stay strong in the knowledge that He will use this time for good. Even if it seems it's turning bad....stand firm in His love and look for the truth.

Many blessings to you and your family.
Love, Lisa

In these times we have to be so careful to what we say or do. It shows us how much we really need our Lord to be here as King. I also lift you and your family up in prayer. Satan is increasing his attacks and we all need so much to be in prayer for each other.

I am praying for your son, that he will find peace and forgiveness (we all make mistakes). I am praying for the judge that he will have the wisdom to see that you son is not a danger to anyone. Most of all I am praying for you to trust in the Captain of this ship, to guide you through this storm. Be at peace and trust in him.

Shy1, I praying a hedge of protection around your son and standing in agreement with all prayers for him and for you too.

Thanks, Lisa. I'm trying to remember that no matter how bad things look when you're going through them, it can (and will) be used for His good. Just sitting here today waiting on the Lord . . . blush.gif

Amen to everything you said, and thank you for your prayers. I am so anxious for the Lord to come! I hate having the fate of my family be even temporarily in other people's hands to any degree at all, especially when those people might not pray and be guided by the Spirit of the Lord. But I have to keep the faith! I've gotten into a lot of habits from reading messages on this board, and one of those is almost instant prayer on other people's behalf when I hear of a situation where they need it. You are so right when you say that we all need so much to be in prayer for each other. That will be more and more the case, and there is power in that prayer!

Don,
I love your message. I was just thinking this exact thing this past weekend, before all this happened. The scripture about let not your heart be troubled came to my mind, and I thought about trusting the Captain to guide us through all the storms we have in our lives. I was thinking about how it's not what's going on out in the world that I even give a thought to, but what's going on in my own family that causes me the most worry--my children. They're His children, and I have to trust Him to take care of them. "Be at peace and trust in him." That's beautiful, and I sure needed it. Thanks so much!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! A hedge of protection sounds so wonderful. I pray that for all of us on this forum. We all need it. Thank you so much for your prayers and your friendship!

What happened today was that the police officer went to the court to file his complaint. He told me to expect to hear back the same day from the District Attorney's office if the complaint was considered to be a valid one, or in other words, if charges were going to be pressed against my son. At almost 5, I hadn't heard anything, so I called the DA's office and finally got transferred to the department that handles juvenile cases. The lady said they only handle juvenile felonies, which elevated my level of upset quite a notch. She said they didn't have anything in their office yet, and that if it had just been filed today, it was probably still in the magistrate's office. She gave me that phone number, and I called. The person who answered the phone wouldn't give me any specific information, and didn't even ask for my son's name, but he said we should hear something by mail in about a week, whether it goes our way or not. So that's where we stand (and wait . . . !)

Thanks so much for checking on us! And thanks for your loving care and concern! The prayers are helping, because I am definitely getting calmer again, and my husband says he has a peaceful feeling that everything will be ok. I will keep you posted, though it may be a week and a half or so before there is any news. Let's pour out those prayers for Lisa and everybody else, too!

Much love,
Debbie

It is hard having to wait and not knowing the end results. Read Psalms and stand on the LORD'S WORD. HE will not leave you nor forsake you.
I am trusting and believing that there will be a powerful testimony, when all the waiting is over.

I keep thinking about the phrase "waiting on the Lord." Forget about waiting on everybody else.

I went up to my son's room yesterday just to look around and see if there was even a doodle or something that they could misunderstand, and I came out just so proud of him. He had his scriptures and scripture-related things up there where they are, and scout-related stuff, and band stuff, and school stuff, and a check from somebody he had done several hours of yard work for, and overall the room was pretty neat, like it always is. The only thing I removed from the room was the check, and I think I may put it back. I still don't know if there's going to be some kind of search warrant at some point, but let them come. Let them see what kind of family we are, and what kind of son of God my boy is. That could be the good from this whole thing. I won't just get up there and testify--I'll get up there and TESTIFY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now I feel much better! wub.gif

Update: I was told Thursday by the magistrate's office (who didn't know what specific person I was asking about) that we would hear either way by mail in about a week or so. Then I called at the end of the day yesterday, and they said they didn't see his name yet, so the officer must not have filed the paperwork yet. Maybe he's giving us a break for Easter weekend. I don't know whether to go up to the school on Monday and ask him if he knows anything yet or just let sleeping dogs lie. I'm just happy for the peace this Easter weekend. Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Praise the LORD indeed! Maybe the officer had second thoughts...better yet, maybe the LORD is already at work and giving you and your son a wonderful testimony!

Prayers are being sent up.

I do hope he had second thoughts, because it would surely be a miracle. That would be a wonderful testimony! We already know He lives and that He loves us, and it's nice to know that He has his eye on us always.

Thank you so much! Yes, this is the only real comfort you can have, because there is none in the world. I appreciate so much your prayers for us!
Debbie

And one last thought while I'm at it--it's easy to see when you spend any time reading this forum, why it comes under attack so much. Satan can't stand all the good that is accomplished here! There is so much praying, so much sharing of testimony, and so much witness of the Lord. Keep up the good work, everybody! Even in the bad things He can accomplish good.
