Administrators/Moderators please fix the multiple posts...I noticed that I posted something new the other day and it posted twice...I see that others are also having the same experience.

Also, I cannot delete a new post...the button that allows that is missing.

Here are three posts that are the same post...that I saw...

Thank you in advance.

Yes Tig, I noticed this too. I noticed some time ago that we are no longer able to delete or edit a new post after a short amount of time.
excubitor
I've noticed this when after submitting a post it came back with page not found message. I clicked the back button and resubmitted post. Same page not found message returned. So repeated again

Then in another browser I noticed that the message had been posted three time.

I had no trouble deleting the repeated posts though
Pamela
I wondered about that...I also wondered if it's just me, but everytime I log on here as well, everything is moving slowly...

Hey Tig -
RELAX! It is not the end of the world (no pun intended). I asked the hosting company to help us out on the performance issue, which they did last weekend. I will make sure to follow up on it as time permits.

HisLoveAbides - you can still delete your own posts. You just can't delete a topic after you create it. The reason is to prevent the deletion of other member's posts if you were to delete your own topic. That became an issue with a former member, and people complained that when he deleted his own topics, he ended up deleting their posts with it. So you can still edit and delete your posts, but not your topics. Only Moderators can do that. Here is how it works: If you create a brand new topic, it is your post (post # 1) that establishes the topic. Since you can not delete topics, You can not delete the first post of a topic, either. If you could, then you would be deleting the entire topic. Members are not allowed to delete their own topics, so they will not see the delete button for post # 1 in a topic. Any post after post #1 in a topic can be deleted, as Excubitor mentioned above.

Chrio39 and I are addressing the multiple posts when we can, as well as other problems as they arise. We appreciate the notices, and please keep them coming. Thanks.

I have the same problem when posting..but I also can not place a avatar on the board..so I use one located here, but it disappears also at times.. smile.gif

Isn't there a way to set it so you can delete a topic as long as there are no replies, and once a reply is made, the delete option de-activated?

Also, there is a problem where some threads are unable to use the formatting features (such as "quote" or "color")

That is what happened to me in one topic I started, and I tried to delete it because the formatting didn't work, but couldn't find the delete button, so I had to tell people to ignore it (which creates a curiosity so they click on it anyway, wasting their time)

Hi mmddll,
No, it is an all or nothing proposition when deleting a topic. The IPB board code does not provide a feature that allows us to enable topic deletion when there is only the starting post, and disable when there are more posts than the just starting post. I have not spent any time writing a modification or looking for one either, since this has not been a problem until very recently.

You also asked if some forums (you called them threads) are unable to use the formatting features (or BBCodes). The Debates forum was the only forum in the Board where the BBcodes were turned off, but they have been re-enabled lately. I will see if other forums have the same limitation - if they do, it is a mistake.

Okay thanks gr82bsaved,

since you are familiar with code (I'm assuming) is there any possible way to allow the use of html "styles" with html coding in the posts, such as positioning and creating borders around text? sorry if I lost you or if I am getting too technical on that one...

I figure the answer is no but it doesn't hurt to ask

Here's an example:
say I want to emphasize something or compare two things using a border:

================= =================
|| text inside a border || || text inside a border ||
|| text inside a border || || text inside a border ||
|| text inside a border || || text inside a border ||
|| text inside a border || || text inside a border ||
================= =================

just an example...I can't think of why, just for visual effects and organization mostly

Naw, you didn't lose me at all! The IPB board code does not allow non-admin users to upload style sheets nor will it allow non-admins to embed style tags into posts. However, you can use HTML in your posts to if you want to, including style behaviors. To use HTML in your posts, simply select "HTML On - Auto Linebreak Mode" in the Post Options drop down list. Here is an example:
CODE

<div style="align:center;width:50%;background: #FFFF99;border: 1px dotted #000000;border-bottom: 4px dotted #000000;border-left: 4px dotted #000000;color: #000;font-weight: bold;font-size: 10px;margin: 8px auto 0 auto;padding: 3px;">HTML Embedded in my Post
<div style="background: #FFFFFF;border: 1px dotted #FF0000;border-left: 4px solid #333333;border-top:1px dotted #000000;color: #6633FF;padding: 4px;margin: 0 auto 8px auto;">No problem. It all works just fine...
</div>
</div>

<div style="align:center;width:50%;background: #FFFF99;border: 1px dotted #000000;border-bottom: 4px dotted #000000;border-left: 4px dotted #000000;color: #000;font-weight: bold;font-size: 10px;margin: 8px auto 0 auto;padding: 3px;">HTML Embedded in my Post
<div style="background: #FFFFFF;border: 1px dotted #FF0000;border-left: 4px solid #333333;border-top:1px dotted #000000;color: #6633FF;padding: 4px;margin: 0 auto 8px auto;">No problem. It all works just fine...
</div>
</div>

Just a working example. You can play with it all you want.

Hope that answers your question!

Thank you Todd, I thought maybe there was something more happening...since there seemed to be a lot of posts all the sudden posting twice and some three times.

I did notice today that I got a message when posting that the website couldn't be found...my screen switched to my homepage when that happened.

I went back and looked at the new posts before trying again...and the post was posted. blush.gif

Glad to know that you are working on getting this issue resolved. wub.gif

Cool! That's GRRRR88888!

thank you G82bsaved! That's exactly what I was asking!
