Full Version: Is Judgement Set?

This week I heard Charles Stanley state that America is not in revival, and unless true revival sweep our nation and undo the losses we've suffered since the 60's, then catastrophe is coming. I have been cooresponding w/ brother with a prayer ministry and he agrees but feels as I do that it is too late. Yet we both cry out in repentance in intercession that perhaps God will relent yet again.

I do believe that God would that our nation repent, but I see a repeat of 1859. God purposed to bring revival, which I'm sure that many were crying out to him for, especially the slaves. We had so much blood on our hands from the maltreatment of the native Americans and the slaves as well. There were many amongst both groups that were Christians. Revival came - in small measure. God always prefers mercy over judgement. There was too little repentance though. The fire went out too soon. Then the bloodiest war in our history was fought, with greater loss of American lives than in all other wars combined, from the revolutionary war to this very day. Brother, that was God's judgement. And both sides plied God for help against their foe. Sometime read the Gettysburg address and Lincoln's 2nd inaugural address. They're very telling. I've read them several times from within the Lincoln memorial.

I believe that that which is to come, if we don't respond to God in true repentence with our whole hearts, and learn the fear of God, then we will be judged even more severly than the great Civil War. Our national pride and arrogence is an affront to a holy God. How can we escape?

I do believe that our prayers are not in vain. They will impact the situation both in the heavenlies and on the ground. We don't know who might be protected or spared, at least in part, because of our prayers. But we're steadily losing ground as the great collective will of America is away from God and His precepts and the ever prevailing mindset and worldview of the American peoples is without God as a base and compass. Christ came to His own and His own received Him not. We received Him as a nation, yet we've pushed Him away. May God's will be done in America.

Amen, I wholeheartedly agree...well said.

This would be a good place to insert the prayer of Daniel (chapter 9)...

QUOTE

4 I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed:
"O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, 5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. 6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7 "Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the men of Judah and people of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8 O LORD, we and our kings, our princes and our fathers are covered with shame because we have sinned against you. 9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; 10 we have not obeyed the LORD our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you.
"Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. 12 You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem. 13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. 14 The LORD did not hesitate to bring the disaster upon us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.

15 "Now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. 16 O Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our fathers have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us. 17 "Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, O Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19 O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name."

Amen and amen to the prayer.

Not just you in America, but here in South Africa as well. We use to be a Christian nation, but we too have turned our back on God. Abortion is legal, gay marriages (we just had our first gay divorce) we have one of the highest crime rates in the world, very high corruption in the government. Chasing money and riches. You name it we do it.

We are having the worst drought in many many years. Even the cactus plants are dying. We deserve it, but I still cry out to the Lord for mercy. We must pray, even though I truly believe that we are standing on the threshold of the tribulation and that everything soon will come to an end, I still pray for mercy. For God to one last time give us mercy, before the end comes.
Not that we deserve it at all.

Judgement is coming, that is for sure, but lets pray that God will delay yet a while longer. There are so many of our brothers and sisters that are not saved yet. Pray that the Lord will gather them in too before the end comes.
I pray Lord that you will bring them,,even now. Open their ears so they can hear your call. Change their hearts Lord so that they will feel the need for You. Grant repentance, through Your mercy and grace. Enable your people to reach the lost. Grant us a while longer Lord. Work in the hearts of your chosen, wake them and let the Word be established in their hearts and in their mouths. In Jesus Name

I am prayer with this too. wub.gif Lord lead us, teach us, keep us for your glory.
Your mercy endures forever, but the wicked who remain wicked for hatred sake, we ask you Jesus to break them and have them surrender to do your will...To fight against the principalities of darkness in high places,,to seek out those in need and feed them with the nourishment of your Holy Word and giving the means to nourish their health. We pray LORD for the lost and broken and contrite in spirit.
We ask LORD for you GLORY to be seen, so that people we cry out to you Jesus our LORD.
We ask for mercy, we confess of our tressgressions and pray for complete dilverance in your Holy name.
We cry LORD how long, and yet you will guide us in peace even in troublous times.
We look to you in all Honor LORD, you are our only God....and we know you will come soon...and yet we yearn for your Return...in the time we wait we ask for you comforting peace and to be a vessel of which your Holy Light will bring others and us always to your holy feet.

Blessed are the feet and hands of those whom bring forth the Gospel of Christ Jesus our Lord...Amen

May the Lord's peace continue to be our peace...for when they cry Peace, Peace and there is no Peace, we know LORD your Reign is Near.

What a day of rejoicing that will be...when we will see you face to face. 1dsz5e4.gif

David... I feel your broken heart as I read.

I think we might be too late too.

I will pray with you. For nothing is impossible with God.

MMLLDD, thank you for the Daniel prayer. It is so timely for us. Julie, you're right, my heart is broken, and like wernotalone & C, I pray too, but not the prayer of faith? I do pray with hope. Whiteknight, where would you go? The secret place of the Most High God is our fortress. We must depend on Psalm 91 promises of protection. I'm glad to have you guys because most here don't seem to be able to see the great overflowing tide that is soon to be released against us. I'll surely see you all in our Strong Tower. Shalom, and fear only God.

It's a hard question to me too. I live in Holland but there is also a lot of injustice, or carelessness about a lifestyle demanded in the Bible. Your and our governments are on the one hand saying that they are favoring God, or have God on their side, in the US it's even more outspoken than in Europe, for example when going to war or facing another serious challenge.

But democracy is a system which thinks it can only work if freedom of all kinds of injust opinions and swearing words are held upright (the freedom of speech sometimes equals freedom of injustice). That's something I can't rhyme with each other. It's like it's saying that it's partly thanking its existence to the freedom to commit certain sins.

I'm not really content with that when I associate power with God only, and when the Old as well as the New Testament both require a kind of total attitude which is so ONE that it is with all the soul, all the heart, and all the brains, which causes people not to hesitate a moment when God asks something of them. No matter how humble or high their status is, everybody can do something in his or her scope, I'm pretty sure. We have a task from the beginning on and that is to manage the earthly realm. And if there is a hierarchy among people it better should represent God. For I associate power or influence with God, it's a delegated power from God, given in our hands to a certain degree.

If I feel I'm moving upward, healing inside, getting more one in attitude, so thank God for it. To Him comes all the honour, from Him stems all the oneness inside. It's asked from us that we are favouring God with all our heart, all our soul, and all our wisdom. Let's pray the Our Father in Heaven, which covers any problem in general terms, even when we are not aware, just trust that God is so aware that He has counted every hair on our heads even before we started counting!

Dear Friends, I know how you feel. I liked what Billy Graham said on "Larry King Live," talk show just within the last 8 years. "If God doesn't punish America, then He'd have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah."
It's not that I or even Rev. Graham want America to crash, but we're doing it to ourselves by "doing whatever seems right in our own eyes," to take from the book of Judges. I believe that judgement upon us (in the U.S.) has been lessened by many thousands of praying Christians, here and elsewhere.
I remember April 29, 1980 on the Mall in Washington, D.C. where approximately 600,000 Christians stood there praying for our nation. We prayed and fasted all day from sun-up to sun-down. We asked for forgiveness and went through a long list. We spoke blessing upon the land. We cried out the name of "Jesus" to all 4 points, but it was when we faced the Capitol Bldg. it was later reported that those in the Capitol heard the name of Jesus and then heard screams swirling around inside of the Rotunda.
The Press was rude, condesending, or just plain ignored us. There were no riots, fights, trash was at a mimimum and the Park service that runs the Mall said we could come back. I believed that the Father took note of our activity and granted many of our petitions.
Even though Nineveh was spared after Jonah preached to them, eventually that city was destroyed. See Nahum, chapter 2. But in all, I pray that souls are saved to the glory of God.

Judgment is set for all nations of earth but one. The nation of faith will be assembled during the judgment of the others and all brought together after their demise.
