"I will proclaim the decree of the Lord: He said to me, "You are my Son, today I have become your Father. Ask of me and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession." Psalm 2:7, 8
Just the other day (8.3.7) Jesus spoke to my heart during a time of worship and showed me a picture of His footsteps walking in the sand, His beautiful feet marking the earth with the imprint of eternity. I had been worshipping and thanking Jesus for the truth of the nations being His inheritance. At the time of receiving this vision I was with a group of Scottish leaders and we were desperately calling out to God for revival in Scotland and I had a fresh revelation of the reality that there is nowhere on heaven or earth that we can set our feet that does not already belong to Jesus. As I continued to worship Jesus, declaring this truth from Scripture I received the vision and the Lord said,
"Learn how to walk in the footsteps of eternity, learn how to walk in the footsteps of covenant, learn how to walk in the footsteps of your Father, learn how to walk in the footsteps of favour, learn how to walk with the eyes of Christ, learn how to think with the mind of Christ, learn how to flow with the heart of Christ and as you learn these things you will teach others how to walk in My ways."
FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS
I then saw my own little feet following in Father's footsteps. In the prophecy Jesus gave a seven-fold instruction in how to walk with Him and I believe this is a word to every believer as each of us endeavours to step out to follow in the humble and holy foot prints of the Lord. To walk in the footsteps of Jesus we must look afresh at our position as heirs with God and co-heirs with Christ and remind ourselves of what Scriptures teach us. In doing so, our faith will rise and we will respond as obedient children to a fresh walk of faith with our Master.
JESUS CHRIST IS GOD’S HEIR
“but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he [God] has appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.” Hebrews 1:1-4 [emphasis mine]

Through Jesus the heavens and the earth were created and by His blood sacrifice at Calvary Jesus has purchased the nations as His inheritance. In meekness, we walk as Christ's ambassadors to release His completed work of Calvary as His co-heirs. Hallelujah!
WE ARE HEIRS OF GOD AND CO-HEIRS WITH CHRIST
“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father”. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” Romans 8:15,16
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory”. Romans 8:17
"This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus." Ephesians 3:6
WE ARE HEIRS UNDER COVENANT
“Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.” Hebrews 6:17
WE ARE HEIRS OF AN ETERNAL INHERITANCE
“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance – now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.” Hebrews 9:15
WE ARE HEIRS BY GRACE
“For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.” Galatians 3:18
WE ARE HEIRS THROUGH FAITH
“You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” Galatians 3:26
“If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” Galatians 3:29
OUR INHERITANCE HAS BEEN PREPARED FROM CREATION
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” Matthew 25:34
OUR INHERITANCE IS GUARANTEED FOR ETERNITY
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3
Our inheritance is sealed by imperishable, unstoppable, unquenchable, all-powerful Blood of Christ!
OUR INHERITANCE IS SEALED WITH GOD’S PROMISED HOLY SPIRIT
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:13,14
WE INHERIT THE KINGDOM
"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world." Matthew 25:34
WE INHERIT THE EARTH
“Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth” Matthew 5:5
WE INHERIT GOD AS OUR PORTION AND STRENGTH
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” Psalm 73:26
WE INHERIT THE WORD OF GOD
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” Psalm 119:11
“Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.” Psalm 119:111
WE INHERIT EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING IN CHRIST
We inherit every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 1) and it is a delightful inheritance! We are chosen to be holy and blameless; we are adopted in love because Jesus has freely given. We have redemption through the blood of Christ, we receive forgiveness for ours sins; we receive the lavish riches of God’s grace, wisdom and understanding. We are created for the praise of His glory and we are included in Christ as we receive His truth. We are marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance. Glory to God!
A PRAYER OF FAITH
Father we choose to step out with Jesus TODAY, because today is the day of your power and the day of your salvation! Eternity knows no time and by faith we connect with the realm of Eternity and we pull to earth every promised blessing in our inheritance in Christ to the glory of your name. Send out your Holy Spirit warriors to win the lost - those who are laid down lovers whose hearts are consumed with the love of Christ. Father send us to feed the hungry, to give water to the thirsty, to make invitation to the stranger, to clothe the naked, to look after the sick and to visit those who are in prison. Send us to care for the orphans and the widows and to provide a banquet table for the poor. Send us in the power and love of your Holy Spirit to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour. For your glory and the namesake of Jesus we pray. Amen.
