Good question HB! Lets put some scripture up and take a look......






Lets look for inherit first using the KJV.







Mat 5:5
Blessed are
the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Mat 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.




Mat 25:34
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Mar 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

Luk 10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?


Luk 18:18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?


1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

1Co 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you
in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.



Heb 6:12
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.



1Pe 3:9
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.


Rev 21:7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.



so far in the KJV NT we have 4 verses that speak about inheriting the kingdom of God and 0 that speak about inheriting the kingdom of heaven..........interesting........so how does the bible use the kingdom of heaven as a description?

I am looking at this from the view point of if an inheritance is something that can be loss in context of this scripture.

My personal favorite is in

Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.


But, I did a search in KJV and the expression "kingdom of God" only appears in the New Testament, 68 times

so what do we see that can be inherited in the NT(The OT I believe will add some sharper focus later in the discussion...i hope)

kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

The promises

A blessing

All things

Kingdom of God

Matthew is the only book/disciple to use the term kingdom of heaven.........why?
