Luk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

God forgives repentant sinners,
God does not forgive un-repentant sinners,

God told us to be like Him,
Christ is our Leader, Example, Teacher,

we are His followers

should i forgive my enemy if he is un-repentant?

is it possible to "love my enemies",,,,,,without forgiving them?........until they repent?

Luk 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
Luk 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
Luk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Luk 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
Luk 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

JACOB/ISRAEL died in Egypt, but was buried in the PROMISED LAND

Gen 50:13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.
Gen 50:14 And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.
Gen 50:15 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.
Gen 50:16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,
Gen 50:17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

THE 11 BROTHERS ASKED JOSEPH TO FORGIVE THEM

Gen 50:18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
Gen 50:19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

JOSEPH ANSWERED:
JUDGEMENT (VENGEANCE, FORGIVENESS) IS THE LORD'S,
JOSEPH IS NOT GOD,

JOSEPH WILL DO GOOD THINGS FOR THE 11,
AND JOSEPH WILL LOVE HIS BROTHERS

BUT, DID JOSEPH FORGIVE?

DID JOSEPH DODGE THE QUESTION?,
AND LEAVE GOD TO BE THE JUDGE?

JOSEPH IS A CHRIST-FIGURE

Gen 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Gen 50:21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
Gen 50:22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.
Gen 50:23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.
Gen 50:24 And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
Gen 50:25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
Gen 50:26 So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

I think you can forgive an unrepentant person, but that doesn't mean you have to be around them. So forgive, but don't be around them until they do change.

That's just my opinion,

Human understanding goes along way when it comes to forgiveness. It's easy to forgive when we understand that certain sinful manifestations come from ignorance..inexperience and petty humanism. We offer grace and another chance...but patience finally wears thin and we walk. If the person continues in the behavior there is no need of fellowship.

If there is no ignorance and the person is willful in their sin ..justifying as they go....then there is no grace offered, the person knows perfectly well what they are doing and are in complete rebellion.

Lots of times a person seeks human forgivness but never bothers about God's.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.
John 10: 27-30

Very good topic, Dennis.

Even Joseph went so far to prove his brothers, and give them the opportunity to make a different choice the 2nd time around. Thank goodness for them, they did!

Jesus also said

Luke 6
27"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. 34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. 35But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

37"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Which doesn't mention repentance at all. And doesn't actually have much to do with the heart condition of the other person...just with ours. To me this underlines the point that forgiving frees us, and keeps us from allowing satan to gain a foothold in our life. If we have "room" in our heart (or soul) that is occupied with unforgiveness that is room that is not available for God's love and Spirit and power to fill.

Just thoughts...
