Bible Scholar you just saw words of wisdom. You should pay heed.
You don't have a soul...You are a soul...You have a body ~ C.S. Lewis
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me ~ John 15:6
There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. ~ Psalms 91:10-12

I am sorry BibleScholar, but I don't agree with your ideology....Why do you make the assumption that you cannot be closer to God when seeking an education, wife, family???
These were the places where I have been the "closest" to God. These are the places where you NEED HIM MOST!!! Don't you desire for HIM to choose that wife, job, life???!!!
Don't assume that you put God in the back seat when pursuing these things, let HIM drive!!! You will avoid the many heartaches and pitfalls that trying to pursue these things in your own way, will bring you.
I know from experience....I don't EVER want to make the major moves in life without HIM, again. I learned the hard way, that it is so much more blessed to listen to Him and use His guidelines in the pursuit of happiness.
His Word will guide you in every one of these endeavors of life that you mention.
God bless you!

Suzanne

I'm not saying that you can't have a goal in this earthly life without a God or putting God in the backseat while trying to obtain these goals. We put God first in everything that we do but that is not what reality have shown. Pick any church you want and go to their services. Note that the people who are very devoted are the older folks. There may a sprinkle of younger folks who looks good in church but outside of their place of worship, they forget about God or put God in the backseat.
Faith and spirituality, if we pick some major players like a Ghandi, a Buddha, the pope, Mother Theresa, your local pastor or any people that is true to the works of humanity, we find that they are usually of older age. They can dedicated their full time and functioning in building up God's church or be in retirement and focus their channel on God. They are the ones that are closer to death thus drives their motivation to be more spiritual.
Tell me who thinks more about death, a youngin or an oldie? Most youngins are healthy individuals and when you are healthy, you do not think about death. No fear of death = no fear of god.
My screen name was cut short. It was suppose to be BibleScholarJunior and I'm here to learn more about scriptures to strengthen my faith.

Then let it begin with YOU!
Make a difference in your choices....choose as one who has the wisdom that the Lord will provide, and do not be as those you mention.

"the bigger you are, the harder you fall" - not scripture. LOL
The people that are more closer to God are the people who have lived a life.
How can I, as a teenager be closer to God when I still have the dream of getting an education and becoming someone?
How can I as a young adult be closer to God when I still have the dream of finding that wife to marry?
How can i as a newly wed be closer to God when I'm still have the dream of raising a family?
It is only then that after all the cravings have been met that there is nothing left to live upon but to prepare oneself for one's salvation for the ship that is taking us there is the next step away.

"Seek the Lord and all these things will follow"
I think of all the time I wasted on worldly persuits and I want to die for all my wasted time. My story is similar to Tsth. My relationship with the Lord and my knowledge of who he realy is would be so much deeper now if I had allowed him to work in my life like he was wanting to all those years.
After all those cravings have been met,,,,,,,,LOL!
Meeting those cravings turned me into an alcoholic, an abusive husband, greedy, mean, a fighter, jealous, vengeful, lonely, angry, cynical, hateful, and just down right imoral. The whole typical punk rock/ biker life. Nothing but heartache.
It almost destroyed my family and me and all those around me. It wasn't until the Lord showed me one day,, "Hey! You should be searching for me! If you believe you would obey." (That's just one of the times, but that's when he started showing me)
So,, go get all the filth and sorrow you can handle. Wallow in the myre and fullfill your wants and needs first. Come talk to me in 10 years and I'll help you through the regret.
Blessings to you.
