Matthew Henry commentary from 2 Timothy

God has not given us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, of courage and resolution, to meet difficulties and dangers; the spirit of love to him, which will carry us through opposition. And the spirit of a sound mind, quietness of mind. The Holy Spirit is not the author of a timid or cowardly disposition, or of slavish fears.

Stand boldly..with right attitude.

A youth leader l know is loosing his job after his wife has just quit hers. They have there own children and adopted fosters. What's his attitude?

No doubt the Lord will supply all his needs according to his riches in Glory amen

No doubt..as soon as you start serving God full time God will move on your behalf. Don't fear. Don't stay home and watch TV or count your bills..but go out and serve somebody...

Yes! At times we may all need to be reminded we are to love one another as Jesus loves us. That means we are to serve somebody.

I pray for the renewing of my mind to the mind of Christ, expecting transformation, spiritual maturity. That comes from doing, from serving and loving under the unction of The Holy Spirit, in obedience to God. In my experience the world and its cares can close in, yet we are to stand firm. Closing my mind because of the pressures and stressors that come along would not allow me to receive the renewing of my mind to the mind of Christ.
