It's the first thing l noticed when l read the article...
"We did it with our own hands"
But Godsword...It was like you read my mind...and Stephen...a remnant.
If he was willing to preserve a nation for 10..why would he change his character now?
And l wonder how many Jews came to Christ during the holocaust? We'll probably never know in this life. But it's so obvious to me how God used that wicked event to conform world opinion in favor of his precious Jewish people.
Godsword...you're right.

There is no basis to claim that Israel today is not the fulfillment (or partial fulfillment) of God's prophecies and promises to Israel. In fact, it is fairly clear that the modern nation of Israel is the very specific fulfillment of God's prophecies and promises.
Ever hear of a Letter of Intent? Or an MOU? That's what we submitted yesterday. Our intentions to move to a home we began dealings on last fall that fell through. Now it's back on the table again. Some of you might remember. We would be moving into the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains near Kingston..The edge of what is referred to as the blue hole. The folks should recieve the letter today.
So what is a Letter of Intent?

LOIs resemble written contracts, but are usually not binding upon the parties in their entirety.
The purposes of an LOI may be:
to clarify the key points of a complex transaction for the convenience of the parties
to declare officially that the parties are currently negotiating, as in a merger or joint venture proposal
to provide safeguards in case a deal collapses during negotiation
(Kind of like not being set in stone) Here's another way to look at it:

You get the picture anyway...
I believe this is a two way street. Not only the unconfirmed covenant. But a covenant with our Lord for a people that is yet to be fully confirmed.
This is my 60th year as well. The Lord has used the home l've lived in for the last two years as a teaching tool to show me about Israel..my greenhouse (as his protected work) and my garden.
I wonder if the seller will accept our intent? Regardless. The Lord is using the event to teach me.
If they accept, then the intent will be formed onto a real estate contract and signed. Not to sound corny..but l had a vision of a red caboose sitting out by my garden this morning. We'll see...The whole process is giving me needed understanding.

How can God fulfill his conditional promises to a non believing Israel, when he has clearly said that there is no difference any more. The dividing wall between Jew and Gentile has been broken down forever, by the blood of Christ (Eph 2)?
There is also no longer male or female, in Christ, according to the New Testament. But last I checked, there are still male and female, even after they become Christians. And, the Holy Spirit makes a distinction between males and females, when it comes to who can serve in particular positions in the Church - only males are allowed to be pastors, deacons, or teachers of men. So, either the Bible contradicts itself, or the passage which says that there is now no longer "Jew nor Gentile, male nor female, slave nor free" in Christ is not speaking literally or absolutely - rather, it is speaking about the fact that there is no difference in regard to salvation between those various categories. A Jew has no advantage over a Gentile in terms of salvation - the same salvation, under the same conditions, is offered to all, regardless of whether they are a Jew, a Gentile, male, female, slave, or free. But that doesn't mean those categories aren't still important or have implications, even within God's Church.

Not really. Actually, there were no real assumptions at all.

Not in the context of that passage, which states "seven times more". The addition of "more" to "seven times" identifies "seven times" as a multiplication rather than a time period.
Quote
You misunderstood the math, because the math is based on "assuming" that a "Biblical" year is 360 days long. What the math did was to then "convert" a particular number of "Biblical" years (2590 to be precise) into "Tropical" years (which is essentially the length of a year in our "Gregorian" calendar, averaged over a long time [that is, taking leap years into account]). This was done in order to make it easier to find the "ending" date in the "Gregorian" calendar for that time period of 2590 "Biblical" years.

09 May 2008
Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says he will resign if he is indicted in a corruption investigation involving an American businessman long involved in Israeli politics. VOA's Jim Teeple reports, the scandal is breaking in Israel just one week before Mr. Olmert hosts President Bush and other world leaders as part of Israel's 60th anniversary celebrations.
Ehud Olmert
Just hours after Israelis celebrated their 60th anniversary Ehud Olmert went on national television to deny he had personally accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from American businessman Morris Talansky.
Mr. Olmert says he never accepted any money from Talansky and if he is indicted by Israel's attorney general he will step down. Israel's prime minister says Talansky had contributed to his two campaigns for mayor of Jerusalem, but that his lawyer had handled all of the transactions.
Mr. Olmert's comments came after Israel's attorney general's office lifted a gag order in the case. Investigators are looking into whether Mr. Olmert personally accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars between 1999 and 2005, while he was mayor of Jerusalem and minister of trade and industry.
Morris Talansky, a New York-based businessman with family and homes in Israel, told Israeli TV news reporters that he and Ehud Olmert are personal friends and that he is baffled by the investigation.
"Actually I have no idea, it is totally baffling to me," he said. "When they asked for details I told them whatever I knew. Yes I knew him for 20 years when he was mayor of Jerusalem, we were very very friendly and I used to meet him all the time at dinners in New York."
Israeli media reports say investigators are also examining whether Talansky was a conduit for illegal campaign contributions. Israel has strict laws governing such contributions.
Danny Rubenstein, a columnist for Israel's Haaretz newspaper says for now the investigation is focusing on Mr. Olmert's close associates. He says any indictment of Mr. Olmert, if it comes, will not come soon.
"So an investigation will take at least three or four months, and during this time anything can happen," he said.
The investigation is the fifth such case involving Mr. Olmert's activities before he became prime minister two years ago. So far, no previous investigations have resulted in any charges, but they have left Mr. Olmert with low public approval ratings. Danny Rubenstein says whether the public will forgive Mr. Olmert this time will depend on where the money went.
"There is one thing that is very important here. If the money went to public issues, like the campaigns then public opinion is ready to forgive," he said. "If even one cent went to his pocket that is a problem, and that will make the difference here."
Mr. Olmert's political opponents are not waiting for the results of the investigation to deliver their verdicts on the case. Opposition figures and even some members of Mr. Olmert's own governing coalition have called on him to step down - something he has rejected for now.
A statement from the White House said the investigation will have no affect on President Bush's visit next week to Israel, where he will join ongoing celebrations marking Israel's 60th anniversary, and push for progress in peace negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.

Think about what he is saying when he says there is a believing remnant of National Israel parallel with the church.
First of all, a non believing Jew is not considered a Jew in God's eyes:
Rom 2:28 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code.
9:6 For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children.... 8 In other words, it is not the natural children who are God’s children,
According to God's Word, a non believing Jew is not a Jew.
A descendant of Israel who does not believe is not a descendant of Israel.
A descendant of Abraham who does not believe, is not a descendant of Abraham.
It is possible for a man to be a Jew outwardly, but not really be a Jew.
Paul is not claiming that a non believing Jew is not a physical Jew. He is saying that a non believing physical Jew is not considered or reckoned as a Jew in God's eyes in terms of the covenant or promises.
If a non believing Jewish person accepts Christ, then he is reckoned a Jew, a descendant of Abraham, a descendant of Israel, and heir to the promises.
Now, let's go back to the original claim that God had "a believing remnant of the nation for His purposes in parallel with the Church." If a Jew does not believe, then he is not a Jew nor is he a part of the believing remnant. He is excluded from the covenant. He has no claim to any of the promises God made to Israel.
If a Jewish person accepts Christ, then he becomes a Jew, a descendant of Israel and a descendant of Abraham.
At the same time he becomes a part of the Universal body of Christ (not a particular denomination) which is the church. He joins Paul and you and I as a part of the "Remnant of Israel Rom 11:5." So how can there be a remnant of the nation apart from or parallel to the church? It is impossible.
Another way to say it is; a non believing Jew is not a part of the believing remnant. When he accepts Christ he becomes a part of the believing remnant. He is also automatically a part of the church. So there can be no believing remnant apart from the church existing "parallel" to the church. The cross changes things. That is why it is called a New Covenant.
The lesson for us here is that physical blood does not count in God's eyes, it is Jesus' blood that counts.
Jesus even gave an indication of that when he was here:
46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus certainly was not denying that Mary was his mother.
He was showing that God views things differently from the way the world views things.
Yes there are many Jews turning to Christ, Praise the Lord for that!
Now they are a part of the True believing Remnant.
What would be the greatest blessing for a Jew, to be in the land of the Middle East, or to be in Christ?
Just give me Jesus!!! He is enough!

vision of a red caboose sitting out by my garden this morning
Red:
Hebrew alphabet understanding of `red`:
Ayin = eye = Hebrew alphabet ' O '
Beth = house = Hebrew alphabet ' B '
Teth = serpent = Hebrew alphabet ' T '
Since you stated, " I wonder if the seller will accept our intent " ?
And, " If they accept, then the intent will be formed onto a real estate contract and signed ".
.. ." l had a vision of a red caboose sitting out by my garden this morning " . . .

Off-track betting (or OTB) refers to sanctioned gambling on horse racing outside a race track.
At legal off-track betting parlors, if bettors win, they have to pay the parlor a surcharge taken directly from the winnings. Bettors in New York can avoid paying the surcharges by placing their bets via an off-track betting corporation's account wagering service or at so-called super branches or teletheatres that charge a daily admission fee. Other jurisdictions such as Pennsylvania do not levy a surcharge on winnings. Most booked bets are now placed with licensed services in the Caribbean and Central America who entice bettors by offering them rebates on their bets.
