The storm that began to hit the west coast on Columbus Day night October 12th 2009, is a reflection and recollection of the storm that swept the same area 47 years ago called the Columbus day storm.

One month later the Cuban missile Crisis unfolded. Will history repeat itself in this? Iran is now boasting it's missles. 1962 was a scary time for those of us that lived through it. God had mercy. Will he have mercy again?

The Lord has used Washington State with it's capitol Olympia as a symbolic type of Washington DC.

As we watch this similar missile crisis unfolding with Iran..l believe God is repeating these signs are a type of warning to turn back to the Lord...

Here is what wikipedia says about this storm. but slightly modified...

Quote

"....the Columbus Day Storm of 1962 is a contender for the title of most powerful extratropical cyclone recorded in the U.S. in the 20th century; with respect to wind velocity, it is unmatched by the March 1993 "Storm of the Century" and the "1991 Halloween Nor'easter" (aka "The Perfect Storm"). In the eastern United States, only hurricanes of Category 3 or higher have brought winds of the magnitude witnessed in Oregon and Washington on Columbus Day, October 12, 1962.

In Central and Northern California, all time record rains associated with the cold front caused major flooding and mudslides, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area. Oakland set an all time calendar day record with 4.52 inches (11.5 cm) of rain on the 13th, as did Sacramento with 3.77 inches (9.6 cm). Over 7 inches (180 mm) of rainfall were recorded in the Bay area.[5]

The effects of the Columbus Day storm are still present today. For example, many of the unimproved backcountry roads used by hunters, recreational enthusiasts, and loggers were put in during an intense timber salvage effort aimed at recovering some of the billions of board feet toppled by the gale. Also, the heavy-duty design of the radio towers on Portland's West Hills, with extensive and robust guy cables, is a direct result of the lessons learned by the 1962 catastrophe.

The level of emergency caused by this storm exceeds that of any other Pacific Northwest event in memory. When queried, locals who experienced the storm nearly unanimously tell an account that is both interesting and frightening. The memory is vivid even four decades after the storm. For many, the response was to seek shelter immediately, move away from windows and go into interior rooms or basements. Few storms in the Pacific Northwest evoke such a strong response.

Judgement will finally come..we just aren't sure when..but be ready. How? By asking Christ to be your Lord and Savior..turning from living your own way to living God's way. He tells you how in his word and he tells you how in your Spirit when you invite him in.

In one of the strongest October storms in nearly 50 years, a blast of punishing wind and rain pummeled the Bay Area on Tuesday, toppling trees, flooding homes and severing a major power artery between Northern and Southern California.

God does give warnings. He always has. He uses storms, stars, fig trees, dew, and many other natural events to speak through. There's no doubt God will bring judgement and discipline on this nation. So what about Columbus day? I personally don't know of any legitimate voice who has given a warning for this particular day but l will give my take on it.

God has used the events of Washington State to speak to me about Washington DC.. A coast to coast event and judgement with Olympia as it's capitol magnified for judgement and idol worship.

In 1962 we had a storm here in Washington State called "The Columbus Day Storm......

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.

Mid-harvest storm threatens and sends a call to action

October 12, 8:28 PM Santa Cruz Wine Examiner June Smith & Jerry Starr Bottom of Form 1

Muns Vineyard vines are laden with fruit on a mid September morning -- ready for harvest

There's a storm coming

A tropical storm that hit in Asia over a week ago, is heavily impacting winegrowers on the West Coast of the US.

You say, "What?" It seems like it was only a few weeks ago that we were talking about the first beautiful fruits of an almost perfect winegrowing season – and so it was – on August 25, this column referred to "getting ready for harvest and the crush."

Now, with the first of the seasonal storms preparing to slam into California’s Central Coast, winegrowers and winemakers are scrambling to protect their fruit. It seems that this could be a big, fruit damaging storm – the remnants of Melora, a weakened western Pacific storm – turned toward the east. This fading storm front is teaming up with an unusual weather pattern to build what could be a sizeable storm headed for a direct hit on the central coast, and thousands of acres of wine grapes that are yet to be harvested.

A harvest "call to action" -- get that fruit in now!

Many winegrowers see this as a call to action. Up here in the Santa Cruz Mountains, in areas such as in Glenwood, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards are being harvested as quickly as the crews can get to the fruit-laden vines, to save the fruit from potentially damaging wet weather. Vineyard owner Val Rebhahn, his family, and a crew of workers, picked fruit late last week, and all weekend. "Luckily conditions are cooler up here than they’ve been in the past few weeks. That means we stay cool while we’re picking, and so does the fruit. Heat can ‘cook’ the fruit, and can cause the fermentation process to begin in the transport bins on the way to the winery. So, if there’s a bright spot, the cool weather is a good thing! The alternative, leaving the fruit on the vine, could mean the potential onset of rot, or mildew."

A few lucky vineyards have already finished their harvest

Luckily for Ed Muns and Mary Lindsay, their already harvested Santa Cruz Mountains Muns Vineyards Pinot Noir "is gorgeous!" Mary reports, "We have harvested 37 tons from our 12 acres of Pinot Noir over five days in mid-September." Their Syrah, at last report, was still to be picked. We’ll report on that later in the week.

Ed and Mary (and many other winegrowers) are sure to be happy to have their fruit harvested prior to this first big storm of the season. Muns Vineyard is one of the highest in the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation, where this year they enjoyed timely winter and spring rains, with the fruit soaking in the nutrients, and lapping up the heat from the plentiful summer sun.

For the rest, it's all fingers crossed

oooo miki good thread! thank you for a this info
Hard texts are nuts (I will not call them cheaters),
Whose shells do keep their kernals from the eaters
Ope then the shells, and you shall have the meat;
They here are brought for you to crack and eat.

A man there was, though some did count him mad,
The more he cast away, the more he had.

He that bestows his goods upon the poor,
Shall have as much again, and ten times more.

He that will kill, must first overcome:
Who live abroad would, first must die at home.

He first by grace must conquered be,
That sin would mortify:
And who that lives would convice me,
Unto himself must die.
