The rebellion happened within God's Own people......not the pagans!


Hebrews 3:7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, 9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. 10 Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, 'They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.' 11 So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.' "



WE MUST HEED THE WARNING TO BEWARE!!!!


12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."


Because we can do just as they did and not hold fast!

16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.


To disobey is to disbelieve!


To obey is to believe!!!!


Let us not go into the rebellion during our time of wilderness. Let us exhort one another daily.

Amen suzanne!

When thinking on this, we are reminded of what alot of the rebellion was in the individuals int he wilderness- complaining! We can be such complainers when our comforts are touched. (of course we know there were larger rebellions in the wilderness)but it seems the most common and easy to fall into in the wilderness is complaining which of course comes from disbelief in the work of God and His control over all things for our good. i am guilty of this as well and i do pray that the Lord purify me from all complaining before that time which is fast approaching us.

Truly when we walk in faith and know He is in control we can have peace and quiet the complaining flesh so that it must die.

To add to your excellent post....one of my favorite passages:

Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His name.

3:17 And they shall be Mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

I believe we are now in the wilderness and, as on this forum, we "exhort one another daily." It is up to each of us to put aside pride and rebellion and allow Him to reach us. I agree with GPR...Amen Suzanne!

Malachi is such an enthralling Book, whirlwind.

I am also so mindful of the passage in Chapter 4 with regard to the "hearts of the fathers". Something that we are in desperate need of, is the involvement of fathers. (another topic I know, but still an important one!)

that brings us to 05-09-09 today we should not harden are minds to hear his voice.

rebellion to the word of God, is not in the 10 commandments yet it is sin when we rebel against God.

we shall live by the words of God, Adam and Eve did not, this is why we die!
